I was 20 years old at the time, and the girl in question was 15. But she legitimately had told me she was 18 several times, and I had this evidence in previous chat conversations we had had before.
However since our convos were really dirty and there were a lot of nudes passed back and forth, the cops basically didn't give a fuck about my evidence. I was arrested for child pornography, and the local newspaper wrote an article on me.
I contemplated suicide because of this, and to this day it haunts me everywhere I go.
I eventually brought the case before a judge, who changed my charge to "illegal use of a two way communications device" whatever the fuck that is. I had my sex offender status cleared, but this new charge is still a felony, so it still sucks hardcore but at least I'm not a sex offender.
