Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is, to this day, my favourite novel to read. Its plot is simplistic yet the devices are unmistakable: an oppressive government, division between the people and a rising threat of evil taking advantage of the fear and doubt. It baffles me that Rowling fails to draw parallels between figures like Merkel/Hillary and her characters Dolores Unabridged/Cornelius Fudge. Their ministry was responsible, through negligence and outright malice, for the ease with which the world was taken by voldemort. Umbridge is the most perfect example of "artificial authority" - she is a conniving, malicious and ruthless person that abuses and always seeks to expand her privileges over others via official, corrupt channels.
But if that isn't interesting enough, you'll just love the parallels between ootp harry and trump - both are primarily motivated by anger/frustration toward corruption, both are slandered constantly by the media, and both are popular because of it. What happened, Rowling?
