Scot in Russia here. Definitely go see Edinburgh, it's stunning, but don't expect to find a single right wing person in that city or really any city/town with a university.
Head up into the western highlands and the south western uplands for friendly laid back people and into Cumbria (England) also.
York is very nice as a medieval walled city too. You will enjoy it.
Avoid all of Southern England except Devon and Cornwall.

France always gets a bad rap but France in 1940 was a barely held together revolutionary powderkeg and Germany killed A LOT of french in the invasion, plus they had a huge resistance movement.
Japan was actually probably worse than Nazi Germany but we we like to gloss that over cause of Das Jews.
