They signed with their name on the dotted line, a document their then former king would read, and demand their heads. They knew the risks, and they did it anyway, because they believed in something, something greater than themselves, something they knew that could be good, beautiful, and righteous.
And the men that followed them on their path knew the uncertainty too, it was all too possible for them to lose everything, but they went ahead anyway. Because they knew what they were doing was right, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
