Do crop lenses give the same field of view to APS-C lenses that say, a full frame lens of the same focal length would provide?

I know a full frame 50mm lens on a crop factor sensor of 1.5 would provide a 75mm equivalent view.

However, would a crop lens of 50mm provide a field of view to a 1.5 crop sensor a 50mm field of view?

Sorry if that doesn't make much sense

A lens's focal length is its focal length.

A smaller sensor with a certain lens will see less than a full frame sensor will.

To get the same field of view that one lens and sensor and lens will give on a full-frame sensor on a crop sensor, you will need a wider lens.

The same principle works in reverse for sensors larger than 35mm full-frame format.

Yes.

No.

The Crop / FF lens distinction ONLY relates to how large of an image circle will project. A Crop and FF lens of 50mm will give the same FoV on any camera, it's just that you'll likely have some vignetting on the crop lens on larger sensors.

If you use a 50mm crop lens on a crop body, it will give you the same field of view as if you used a 50mm full-frame lens on your crop body.

That field of view is equivalent of using a 75mm full-frame lens on a full-frame body.

You're essentially asking if your crop lenses' focal lengths are already corrected for the crop factor. They aren't.

>Yes

How does one even define field of view for a bare lens (without sensor, film or eyepiece)?
>>

You don't. Why would you? A lens is useless without something to actually use it with.
>>
SURE WOULD BE NICE IF WE ACTUALLY USED FOV IN DEGREES TO LABEL A LENS RATHER THAN A PHYSICAL PROPERTY

And what would you do for FF lenses that also mount to APS-C cameras?
>>
>>2738724
you can't, you can only state the focal length, and that implies you know what kind of body you'll be mounting the thing on
field of view is a function of the sensor's coverage and focal length
