Old one is about to reach limit.
Starting the thread with something I have tried over the last week. Lots of us own the x100//S// but want to use Classic Chrome as a starting point for our RAWs. By using an EXIF editor I have been able to gain CC on my X100S. It seems very stable and super easy to use. Can this be done with the XPRO1/X100??

So this is how I did it:
1: pic related- the exif mod using exiftool and cmd.
2: open the .RAF using Fujis own RAW converter (you can dl it from Fuji)
3: choose Classic Chrome in the Film Simulation profile box and save the whole thing as a 16-bit .tiff file (do not choose to delete the exif)
4: open the .tiff in Photoshop, LR.. whatever. It'll show the embedded profile in the settings - which is Classic Chrome.
Have fun!

Yeaaah I know it's a rather bad example. I'll be uploading a few better comparisons tomorrow as it's kinda late over here right now.
But still - We finally have a way to use Classic Chrome on the X-Pro 1 and other Fujis using the first gen X-Trans sensor.

Going to test my 5Diii next for banter.

It's free.
It works.
It teaches me to edit, rather than encouraging me to be a slider monkey.
It doesn't require an internet connection.
It doesn't require constant updating.
It doesn't backdoor tracking software or adware onto my computer.
It doesn't run constantly in the background.
It doesn't shit up my computer with proprietary directories and sidecar files.

I wish I wasn't so dense. I really can't get my head around exiftool. I tried downloading the GUI for it too but to no avail and other exif editors don't seem to let you edit the camera name.
How is this any different to VSCO?
>>2860380
Behind the scenes, it's the difference between putting salt and pepper on top of your food after it's been served, and changing the ingredients before putting it in the oven.
To and end user, no real difference, other than the specific look you get in the end.
>>2860381
????
No it's not, they're both just LUT filters that are applied to your shot.
>>2860383
VSCO moves your sliders and adjusts your levels, and plots your curves, on top of a base image that isn't changed.
Setting a VSCO preset, and then going back and zeroing all your settings takes you back to neutral.
Camera Calibration settings adjust how the raw data is interpreted, leaving all your sliders and curves at 0.
Meaning that if you set a high contrast calibration, you have less available contrast to pull back on with your contrast slider, for instance, whereas with a vsco filter, it doesn't adjust what's available to you in processing, and you can just pull back the slider from where VSCO put it.
>>2860385
Which makes VSCO better, really.
all this false flag fujishill bullshit itt
op you are retarded
people have been fiddling with exif for ages

you're just slow

>>2860388

>>2860391
Only editing the camera model name doesn't do it. You also have to change the 'UniqueCameraModel", which is a bit more difficult. The UCM is the indicator Photoshop/Lightroom etc uses to understand what camera the image is coming from and what exact sort of camera profile will be needed.
>>2860391
Yes.
FUJI for the win!!!!
>>2860385
All VSCO presets include calibration profiles which work the same was as the Fuji ones, only it also has adjustments on top of that.
>>2860659
>All VSCO presets include calibration profiles which work the same was as the Fuji ones, only it also has adjustments on top of that.
No, they don't. If you apply a VSCO preset, all that happens is your sliders move, and your tone curve is adjusted. You're welcome to try it on your own to see.
>>2860612
Ok,I will try it
>>2860663
>I didn't install VSCO correctly

>>2860680
>>2860663
You don't know what you've been missing out on, fiend. I'd be happy to help you install the software the right way. (But google should help)
>>2860688
Huh. I will admit I straight up forgot that was part of it. I got so tired of trying to scroll through them all that I uninstalled them. I was merely talking about the presets, and I was mistaken.
Do they do anything differently than the presets you get on the left? Should a user be doing both, in order to get the "total look" of the film they're emulating? For instance, will the TriX preset look more like TriX film if you also use the TriX calibration?
>>2860696
When you select a preset, lightroom automatically selects the matching profile. It's an under the hood thing that you never have to touch if you don't want.
And the answer is yes - and no. Each set of profiles is made for one specific camera, which is why there's a limited number of "supported" cameras. Using the profile will bring you 99% closer to VSCO's intended image, but whether or not that actually looks like Tri-X is a different story, and one I don't care to delve into on the internet - just try them yourself.
>>2860627

Another x100s classic chrome.
Colour balance does not seem to work as well with the camera's auto once you use the side loaded profiles. I am finding I need to either set it myself or use the auto on the computer.

To the anon who was saying you're hearing a noise on your XPro2 and 90mm:
I can't find your comment anymore, but the 90mm's focus system makes a bit of noise at all times when the camera is on. I remember you saying it only happened with the OVF and in bright light, and I don't know that that would be the case for the AF sound, but it's a possibility that that's what it is. Most of the more recent lenses they've come out with have the noise.

Late now, so you've probably already made a decision.
But fuji has no built in nd filter, gr does.
Fuji isn't as fast (to turn on etc.) to be ready to shoot as the gr. It doesn't have the capability to be as fast in shooting too as the gr has the snap focus ability if you think this ability might be useful.
Depends on how you want to use the camera. Discrete, quick ninja-like shots vs general point a a shoot snapshots etc. Gr is the former, x70 the later.
GR has the dust issue (not a meme), but the fuji isn't as pocket able with that fumbling lens cap etc.
Shoot raw only? Love monochrome? gr. Colors and jpg and general conveniences? (Wifi touch install printer etc), the fuji.
Got my xt10 today!
Looking for a grip, but the Fuji one is like £90 fucking pounds. I would like something cheaper, but everything on amazon looks awful.
Also, need to get a decent lens, I missed out on the 23mm 1.4 by 15 quid on ebay.
