Hello all.
The most prolific poster on here said it's important to post photo threads (inb4 that goes for everyone but you), and to not only show pictures that you think are perfect, so I thought I'd post some shots from last month even though none turned out perfect.
I've had lots of issues with thrown focus screens, sticky shutters and what I suspect is a troubled scanner (inb4 just shoot digital), so please save comments about respectively missed focus, overexposure or shit scans, I'm well aware of those, but feel free to call them shit otherwise.

Agree on the Ektar look, but these are both 6x9 Portra 400 actually. It was expired by two years, which I thought should be no problem, but it's the first time I've had real trouble with expired film. It may not look like it, but I have actually edited these quite a bit to make them less shit.

This is my most expensive image to date. When I came back to the car I realized I had forgotten to put the car in gear, and not put the emergency brake on hard enough, so that the car had rolled a few meters down a hill, over a rock and into a tree. Had to get a recovery car to get it loose and replace a bursted tire. Not sure if the picture was worth it.

I wish you'd make all of your gear work really well and get some really nice, clean dev and scan done. I know it's subjective, but I'm not keen on the ugly film look. Film can look way better than digital without the novelty/gimmick of looking a bit shitty. And when you miss focus or exposure purely as a result of equipment failure it feels like a terrible waste.

I agree about the shitiness of the pictures, like I wrote above, on quite a few of these I actually tried to get them as nice as possible, haha. Today was the first time in years that I seriously entertained the idea of switching back to digital. If you think these are bad,you should see the ones I haven't posted. The 645 shots are from a friends M645 that I loaned to try before I buy, which I definitely won't do.

BTW, you're going about 8mph after falling just 3 ft, which comes out to about 3.5 m/s, which is about 13km/h. I dont care who you are, you're gonna feel that, especially after a few times. Going from 13km/h to 0 in a fraction of a second might hurt.

I agree. That lens is not very sharp wide open, and it was shot at 1/15 if I remember correctly, so there is some camera shake too.

That whole trend evolved from some of the best images ever made being done in haste. They don't realize that the images are technically deficient specifically because the photographer's mind was faster than the hands, realized there was a shot worth making, but had not enough time to set things up perfectly.
Ironically, it takes more time to shit up a perfectly good photo than to take a good one.

I tweaked the WB a tiny bit, otherwise I just adjusted the highlights and the shadows a little bit I think. Wish I had taken one in landscape orientation too, but it was the last shot of the roll and my girlfriend was getting a bit impatient with me stopping every two minutes to photograph, so I chose this orientation.
