Who are some of the best photographers, past or present, who have posted work on /p/? Any examples of photos they posted?
I'm curious how many good photographers have actually graced this board at one point or another.

Alphon.

>Natureguy
old NG, you mean. He hasn't done anything good ever since he started posting nothing but photos of his praying mantises. Look at his current thread on /p/.. He's nothing like what he used to be anymore.
My list:
>Alex
>old (!) NG
>Gervin
>D
>5hoe
>ancientpanda
>chewie
>rubber
>that ricoh asshole (Toronto one)

I really like Gervin's photographs, he's probably one of the most talented fashion photographers in the world
Pretty sure Ken Rockwell has been here from time to time.
Definitely alphon alphon is the best one imho
>>2850550
>Definitely alphon alphon is the best one imho
Absolutely and from other posters definitely looks like alphon has the most votes.
Love his style. Hope he posts more. Currently using his stuff for wallpaper.
Other photogs are ok but alphon is on another level. Any other alphon fans on here? Report in!

Reporting in. Alphon is definitely the crowd favorite at /ph/ he's gotten the most mentions cause he's the most popular
Love his style. Wish he'd post more.
>>2851026
God damn alphon has 5 votes that's crazy.
Actually make that 6. I love his style. Ricoh guy is ok but not as good as alphon.
Alphon for sure.
5hoe is ok but not as good as alphon. For sure alphon is the breakout star at /ph/
>>2851032
No, even he was never that retarded. He was proud of what he was. Some anon got high and can't remember what funny is. it happens. For instance, what votes? what are we voting on? there are no votes.
>>2851034
>Some anon got high and can't remember what funny is
kek m8
>>2851029
what kind of pictures does he make?
>>2850553
agree, when he makes threads people shit on him but he keeps posting his pictures and doesn't change his style. He has an artistic vision that is unclouded by trends.
I also like Natureguy because of the subject matter.
I love these threads.
>>2850853

You guys have been saying that since 2010.
>>2851029

It's because you haven't been good since 2010.
Pskaught, Alex (but everyone always mentions him), 11x14 portrait anon, Andrew tomchysksy, junk, Angie Gonzalez, yall, Jens, max fairclough, Moroccan skate photographer, New Zealand 4x5 anon, tedious, le peitit bourgeois.

Does anyone remember the anon who shot with a Bronica SQ and (I think) an X-Pan in/around Vancouver? I always enjoyed his stuff.
>>2852258
Never cared for her work. Very generic and uninspired band photography.
The only photos of hers worth a damn where the shots of her family she took that one Christmas.
>>2852268
Are you thinking of "6x6" anon aka Andrew T? I think he used a mamiya 6. I don't think he used an xpan though
>>2852268
6x6 anon shot with a bronica around vancouver. a trip known as junk shot with an xpan
>>2852838
i had both of their flickrs bookmarked. can't find junk's and i think i remember 6x6 anon saying his flickr was deleted. its rare to see good square or xpan shots :(
>>2852843
No kidding :( I hope to contribute around here since I have a Bronica SQ with a couple lenses on the way
>>2852843
The xpan shots are still on his site

Few really good photos, but for the most part, they're mostly decent yet forgettable.
natureguy
anon from Chile (half frame guy)
anon who made the set of pic related
last but not least, anon who covered the brazilian protests
>>2852425
I had both but sold the Mamiya!
>>2852843
>>2852844
My old Flickr was deleted but I have a new one up. Search for the username mctomch. Also congrats on getting an SQ-A!!! My favorite camera! I've had mine for 10 years.
I'm really liking the person with the recent Trump rally thread. Great stuff!
>>2853560
Was trying to think of why your name was familiar and I scrolled to the skate stuff, you were an old skateperception head right?
Alphon
Honorable mention to Bass for giving exactly zero fucks about /p/ trolls and being a general bad ass even if it possibly killed him
>>2853593
Bass was no role model, nor a "badass" on any context, Sugar.
Sort your stuff out, m8.
>>2853587
Yep! That site taught me so damn much.
This thread is a fun reminder that if you want to be considered "one of the best", you just need a tripcode (easy to remember!) and to post often (doesn't have to be photography related! extra bonus!)
Imagine what would happen if you lazy fuckers actually clicked on some of the flickr links and opened some images once in a while.
>>2853617
I doubt anyone will remember Sugar for anything other than bin related incidents and being a fat smelly trucker tbqh.
>>2853653
this.
nobody here likes me
>>2853617
>you just need a tripcode (easy to remember!) and to post often (doesn't have to be photography related! extra bonus!)
Not entirely true. Alex doesn't use a tripcode, and ancientpanda rarely ever posted unless he was posting a photo, and even that was rare.
Most of the others mentioned are the other oldfags who posted a lot of photos and were easy to recognise because of their name and style. you just sound salty because your name didn't get mentioned
There was, for a short time, an anon that posted very high quality IR photos. More intricate and interesting than "look a white tree!"
I will add him to the above.
Pskaught as well. Creative, fun photography. Not too serious.

>>2853849

>>2854331
normalfags fuck off
>>2851034
what?
>>2854336
Solid! It's nice having one back for color and one for black and white. Or one back for c41 and one for e6. The 80mm is my favorite focal length but that 150mm is a close second.
For long exposures the lenses have a little switch on the underside (known as T-mode). You can shoot long exposures without a cable release. Unscrew/pull the pin out (depending on which lens version you have) and slide the switch over. When you fire the shutter (at any speed) it will stay open until you slide the switch back. If you quickly cover the front of the lens with your hand at the end of the exposure before sliding the switch back you won't have to worry about camera shake.
Enjoy the camera!
>>2854329
to be honest I use it quite a bit but I have a hilariously huge backlog of film I need to hit the tanks. the local lab quit developing E6 and I probably have 100 rolls of it I need to do from being on the road. Hell I have stuff developed almost a year ago I haven't scanned and need to.
>>2854516
We, of course, all believe that and eagerly await your photos.
Can't wait for you to "hit the tanks" (lol, as if you knew how to develop even black and white) and post some stuff here. You have plenty of free time, might as well hop to it.
No love for shuttermaki?
>>2854562
of course. i must have somewhere his Merrill DP2 pics of Morocco. i think he was a legit -as in paid- Sigma shill, but all is forgiven because that camera is cool as fuck.
>>2850550
I really enjoyed the work of this guy.

I've actually got a bunch of 4x5 and 5x7 negs but no way to scan them, I ghetto-rigged the one everyone has seen here lol
yall was always my favorite but i haven't seen him (or his bangin sister) around in ages.
also occasionally enjoyed that one asshole named Trystan from Vancouver whom had the Hasselblad xpan
>>2854809
You could digitize them in other ways though. At least you'd get them to where you can edit them somewhat. Like tape one to a sheet of paper, put it up against the window, and take a photo with a digital camera. That's basically what a scanner is anyways, right?
>>2850550
Pansuit turned out to be a really cool guy. I had an argument with him (surprise on /p/, huh?), but then we eventually became buds IRL.
Beethy is another forgotten one
Johnlol and his great skiing images
Gerard/gerhart ended up doing some great street shots in Spain
Vincent was a quality landscape guy
Photoshop was an editing wizard
Burtgummer didnt give a fuck
Ac was a gearfag but prolific and autobiographic
Nouveau made great intimate portraits
Junk was enigmatic and postmodern
Lpb was underrated
Dont forget 19.99
5hoe was commercial and creative at the same time and rook shit from everyone
Bass was fun
Most people don't mention tedious or Warren... and they were awesome
Carlos improved in front of our eyes
Everyone made photos worth seeing. Some more than others, but never felt like a contest (alphon excluded)
>>2855151
I totally forgot about Warren. He was sort of the original large format faggot around here, and did a lot of experimental printing processes.
I also liked the Indonesian X100 guy, as well as Project, both for their South Asian slices-of-life.
>>2854809
>>2854757
This is all because you're lazy/a moron.
You've been here long enough to see dozens of people successfully scan film with the same or worse gear than you have.
Developing film at home, even big scary E6, requires less brain power or instruction following capacity than baking a delicious cake, and even a woman can do that.
I'm sick of your fucking excuses Sugar.
>>2855151

That's completely normal and appropriate.
>>2855219
That he scanned one single negative, and also doesn't print, while constantly bragging and belittling everyone around him?
>>2855221
that would be true if it were like, 2014 and I was being an actual shithead back then
now sugar-hate is another meme like Our Lord Terry and Sony shill threads
one day ill leave and you will all find someone else to shit on, probably isi
>>2855236
Why wait? We could find out today!
>>2855236
>now sugar-hate is another meme
its a pretty comfy meme desu. also it helps a lot that your output is pure garbage.
i remember when you hung out with alex, and he took his most shittiest LF picture to date, exactly while being in florida with you. its like you have a forcefield that fucks other peoples shit up.
