Would it be the leicas?
I shot once with a Nikon D800 and the image was crap. Too clean, cold, analytical and synthetic.
I have now a Nikon D70, bought it very cheap, and the image looks much more warmer and organic than the D800.
I won't shoot film because it is too expensive on the long term. It may be cheaper If I wouldn't shoot a lot. But I miss a lot of my exposures because I can't quite figure everything right with my first exposure because I only use manual. Film wouldn't let me know If I got things right or not right after shooting.
I only have one lens for the D70. It is a Nikon 28mm f/2.8 AI. So I have no problems to change brands.
Any advices?

Why does it have to be CCD?
Fuji's new sensor in the X-Pro2 actually has really nice noise characteristics. They've somehow eliminated almost all of the chroma noise, and you're just left with fine greyish bits that look a lot like film grain.
>>2848093
film grain is everything but greyish so you are just talking out of your ass
>>2848076
Could you post examples of what you consider "good" noise?

not on black and white film

ffs this is truely /p/

I have a D80 and my EOS M has IMO more pleasing noise on High ISO. D800 at ISO 1600 probably looks similar to D70 at ISO 200, so I can't imagine how can you prefer D70. You can add all the effects you want(grain simulation too) to that clean image.
If you want huge grain and the image that looks completely opposite from "cold, analytical and synthetic" just use very expired film. Its cheap.

you should try a bentax.

The best grain I've ever seen is from my 645Z at ISO12,800. Very smooth, uniform but not digital, monochromatic, and it barely eats into the resolving power of the sensor.
I'm not inclined to buy into the CCD meme because I've owned the 645D before that, and its noise was merely average, similar to the 5Dmk2 but without pattern lines. The Leica S006 has an updated version of that sensor and actually looked decent at ISO1600.
Sorry for no pics, I'm on my phone, soon maybe.

OP is a moron, but among similar morons, the D200 is very well regarded. It was the latest Nikon CCD model.

>I can't quite figure everything right with my first exposure because I only use manual
Can you not use a light meter sperg?
Someone explain like I'm ignorant, because I am.
Are there now people who cultivate the noise of old sensors like it was bokeh or something?
Take me to their instagrams

>But I miss a lot of my exposures because I can't quite figure everything right with my first exposure because I only use manual.
lol stop doing whatever you're doing then
if you use a meter properly that shouldn't be an issue

The meter in the camera fucking dingus.
It meters light by the way.
>>2848093
>They've somehow eliminated almost all of the chroma noise
You can do it yourself using almost any RAW developer.
Won't b different from Fuji's because it is what they did. You cannot have a luma noise only from a sensor with CFA.

My god, you seem to be right in a way. I did a test today, and compared the same shot i took on Nikon D80 and Canon EOS M. D80 really does look better on ISO 100. It looks a bit warmer and a bit more "organic" like you said, although older CCD actually also looks cleaner then CMOS, and has less chroma noise (this is the case only for low ISO).
I shot RAW, handheld, same focal distance (55mm on Nikon and 51mm on Canon to get the same FOV), same aperture(f/8), same exposure (1/640s), pushed dynamic range in Lightroom(same amount for both photos) , and exported best quality JPEG to Photoshop, then cut the images and saved them in maximum quality.
I can upload RAW files if somebody is interested.
I wonder why this is happening. While i was checking highlights i thought maybe its because real base ISO is higher then 100 on EOS M, but if that was the case i suppose shadows should look better on M then D80, and they look even worse. D80 still looks better even after i zoom in to match the resolution of the M.

You're just seeing right now why everyone hates Canon and their 7 year old sensor performance.

Fuji S5 pro.
Nikon based body, nikon lens compatible, 6mp "Super CCD" that has magic fairy dust in it so it resolves 12mp detail.
I've never owned one long term, but pictures I've taken with a friend's were pretty awesome for such an old camera.
If you want anything from present day, look at Fuji X-trans cameras.

I like the noise of the 10,2 mp ccd
Its okay up to iso 800
1600 is very noisy but there is something about it in bw mode
The pictures dont feel as warm as with my ist*ds though
