HDR is a tool that need to be used the right way. Since the 7D lack of dynamic range, you can work of getting more opposite light tones in your pictures.

The 20 is a good lens, I liked my D version. I never tried it on crop, though, using it as a 30mm is an interesting idea.
LR should deal with that vignetting pretty well, it certainly did on FF so crop should be no problem.

i think it looks better, u just need to find the balance between the trees in the distance, the sky and the underside of the clouds.
the sky is good but the underside of the clouds have become too dark and so have some of the trees in the distance.
u could use a combination of masks to edit their brightness independently.

Thanks, I'm surprised at how many people like this shot. It was more contrasty OOC, the building face is honestly quite ugly, and would distract from the light if I brought the shadows up even more (which I tried).

Lots of work getting the colors to come forward while trying to keep the file from falling apart. Hue/sat for specific channels (Red and orange mostly, and a separate layer for the yellow of the board)
Boosted saturation a lot in LAB
Curves to add contrast to the sky
Curves layer masked to the board to bright up the shadows a bit while trying not to blow out the hot spot much.
Cloned out the tall poles on the right, and did content aware fill for the bath in the bottom center. Uses a masked curves layer to darken the street on the left.
I would have left the foreground lighter, but I found that what was there was distracting from the illusion I was trying to support. Looking back, I want to have cropped up the bottom of the frame about half-way through the black area, since right now, with it being so dark, it just feels distractingly wasted and empty.
Really the only intent I was going for was "treat the lit board like the sun in this sunset" and I was working to get rid of anything that didn't help that.

Central one is best, left is a more common clasic composition which works but i much prefer the central one as it uses a sauce-a-matic central compsitin on the rows and the diagonale line of the telegraph poles which leads you off screen makes a sense of wondering.

It's balanced poorly, and everything above the "falls" is wasted. It's processed poorly to look very bland. It's of an uninteresting subject, and is fairly clear that you were either bored and looking for an excuse to use your camera, or you were just recently introduced to the idea of blurring water with a longer shutter speed. It's sloppily shot, and the water isn't level in the scene, without the off-kilter feeling adding anything to the shot.

Too little light on the face, it's too much shadow in my opinion. Also, too much empty air above your subject, next time try to fill her entierly in the photo, or walk a little closer to crop out the empty air. I also think that the white balance is a tiny bit too low in this shot.
Otherwise it's a good shot. The background is just blurry enough, and the road leads me to the subject. Keep up the practicing and you'll get there eventually.

A bit dark in the face for my personal liking. Did you try shadow highlights, or fill light? If you have Ps, you can right click from Bridge and edit even a jpeg in Cam Raw. Nice bokeh through the gaps in the leaves though. Color balance slightly off, unless the ground really does have that slightly greenish tint.

Let me go into more detail then. I don't mind.
The poor balance is caused by the "visual weight" of the unimportant areas of the shot (in this case, the stuff above the "falls"). If the viewer's eye is getting all of its stimulus and information from only 2/3rds of the frame, the last 1/3rd feels very off balance to us. So much action and detail going on in the bottom 2/3rds of your shot leaves us lost and uncomfortable once we get up to the top of the frame. The top of the frame is "wasted" because the photo is "of" the falls. It's the frenetic energy of the water crashing down, and the texture of the rocks getting in its way. There is none of that up in the top of the frame, and it isn't framed or composed in a way to show us the dichotomy between still water and how close it is to being thrown into violent motion by the falls. It's just stuff that doesn't fit the scene as it is.
It's processed to look flat and bland because it was taken in uninteresting light (no drama in the shadows, no pleasant gradients, nothing notable going on at all, light wise) and only (maybe) processed to look "real". We could call this color correcting, but not really post processing, as getting to a neutral starting point is only the beginning, and generally, you want to go from there to make creative editing decisions that would support your intent. For very basic examples, if you're taking a photo of a scene and want to convey that it is very hot, you may make the scene more red and orange in color, or make the brightest areas look almost unbearably bright. To show that something is creepy or eerie, you may process it to look dark, or low contrast, or blue/green tinged to make the viewer a little bit uncomfortable, and make the details of the scene harder to see.

Unfortunately, your scene doesn't really have anything to communicate, so it's very difficult to come up with a processing direction that would "support" an idea, as you don't really have one to support in the first place.
It's an uninteresting subject because nobody much cares about a very small man-made waterfall in a dirty pond somewhere. Most of us have seen and ignored those things all our lives. There's nothing to grab our attention, or to stick in our memories. It's just a small detail. The effect you've gone for is the motion of the water, but we've seen that hundreds of times before as well, and done much more elegantly, and in much more interest settings than you've chosen. You may think "Well I don't have access to Yellowstone National Park, this is the best I can do you asshole" and that's fine, but your viewer doesn't really care about why you didn't take a great photo, all they care about is whether it's a great photo. You may not have access to amazing waterfalls when it comes to taking photos, but we have access to all of them when it comes to looking at photos, so your photo is competing with those for your viewer.
I said that it seems as though you were bored or playing with a new technique because objectively, there's nothing about that scene that I can imagine would cause you to stop your car and get out and run over and NEED to take a photo of it. It seems more likely that you were bored, got your camera and decided you were going to walk around and find things to take photos of, whether they want to be photographed or not. That's fine for keeping you fresh, or keeping you thinking about photography, but unless you force yourself to find great scenes/subjects FIRST and THEN take out your camera, most of the time you'll just come back with photos of nothing and disappointment in your heart.

I mention the horizon being off-level because it is. It's fine to leave your basics sloppy if you're doing it for a reason, but you have to have a reason. Over exposure can communicate something. So can under-exposure, or out of focus areas, or flare, or even tilted horizon. It's usually used to express an off balance subject. Discomfort, or dizziness, high energy, unpredictability, etc. But you don't have any of that going on in this shot, so since the effect isn't tied to anything useful or creative, it ends up being tied to "couldn't be bothered to level the horizon" which makes us feel like you're lazy. We're already thinking that, since we've established that you took an easy photo of an easy boring subject in easy boring light, so overall, the impression is that you didn't put any effort or creativity in, didn't have anything to say, and that you care as little about the photos you've been posting as we do, so we have no trouble dismissing it.

The image is sub-par in it's class, because there is not depth where the action is- nothing to glide me through the image. Wou could improve by shooting at less of a perpendicular angle to the wall of rocks. Maybe even get at a lower angle, so the pond part at the top is not there at all.
The motion blur effect of the rocks is a good effect. If you're at f/29, 1/20, you could certainly afford a longer shutter speed for even more smoothing of the moving water.
