Hello /p/, I've lurked here and posted occasionally for around a year at this point and finally have enough time to post some pictures from a trip I had to the Philippines last summer. This was the first time I had brought along a somewhat modern camera with me on a trip and was also the first time I tried to shoot in raw. Looking back on these I realize there's some very obvious errors that I made, but most of this was me trying to get my feel for how good composition/lighting/subject works. I'd appreciate any constructive criticism on these.

Don't start with your best image.
Some are well taken but most lack depth.
I don't really get anything from them other than generic hobbyist holiday photos, they are not bad just not vert interesting.

I don't know if it's your editing or some HDR bullshit but a lot of these look really weirdly crisp and overly detailed and flat. It's very unsettling to look at.

Yeah this was before I started toning down the vignette in my photos, this was back when I'd just hit vignette preset 2 and call it a day.

Well I had taken photos before, just not with a camera that could shoot raw before. Also before this trip I had an uncle who is very into photography teach me some tips (rule of 3rds, composition, lighting, etc.) and it kind of grew from that.
