so i previously made a thread with most of these pictures asking for critique. i had not edited any of them and that was strongly suggested to say the least. i got lightroom and watched one fairly basic tutorial and took it to my pictures.
they turned out better than i thought for very minimal effort it felt like. i'd like to have more judgement on these and hear about potential improvements.

looking at this one a while after editing i kind of question it, the colors seem too strong in the background, not sure

self-bump because i need validation from strangers on the internet

Those are called 'overblown' highlights. They are unsalvageable. That's a problem you get whenever you're choosing between two drastically different levels of light-subjects. If you exposed for the sky, the building would be dark. You exposed for the building, so the sky was bright.
>>2824974
so it starts with the initial shot. is there a way to avoid that or do you just have to wait for the light to shift itself
>>2824983
You can
- wait for the light to change
- compose your photo in a way that doesn't have drastic differences in light levels
- expose for the brighter part and bring shadows up (more salvageable than blown highlights)
- get a better camera with a higher 'dynamic range'
- shoot in the RAW format of your camera - this has higher dynamic range than when you shoot JPG

It's considered both a douche move and most people will ignore pics that aren't.
>>2824797
Just use HDR.

Another quality contribution from the sticky brigade.

these were all done with a point-and-shoot which i only know a minimal amount of its capabilities, let alone what a DSLR would be able to do.
so basically i haven't studied any formal shooting techniques and i wouldnt know if that's something my camera can do
