these are all fantastic surroundings for a good photo, but they all seem wasted because of no clear subject to look at, its like a well decorated china plate with no food.
maybe im missing the point, that your gross and rustic settings ARE the subject, but i dont know, it would really top it off if you had atleast some good subjects to put into these settings, like a person, or some old shoes. For both images I wanted to expand the intensity, I did this by slowing down the shutter speed to allow some movement but while still maintaining some form. I really like how some of the police are looking at him but I'm not sure on the composition of either image. What do you guys think? Did the slower shutter speed work?

No, I suppose in concept the slower shutter speed works, but it failed in these images. The subject in both of these is (or at least it should be) the guy with the mask (the police look dull as fuck, they look disinterested in the whole situation and diffuse the intensity of the image). The masks really should be sharp/in focus. The first image is almost there, but the pig mask one fails IMO.
Perhaps moving with the subject would provide a better result? Walking backwards as they move forwards to keep the subject somewhat in focus while blurring the background.

Is it generally a safer bet to exposure compensate by maybe 1/3 or so of a stop for birds?
Seems like a lot of my bird pictures come out slightly underexposed. This was at the zoo so not like I missed anything amazing but annoying. This is already with exposure in LR up about 1.25 stops.

The edit below is better but it's not really a remarkable picture to be honest.
It's a beautiful scene but the lighting doesn't seem to be particularly interesting, the framing while covering a large amount of the area doesn't really lead your eyes anywhere.
At least that's my 2c, not bad but coulda been better with more thought and better timing.

I like it, you can kind of tell it's a crappy day out too. Would probably work on the crops or framing a bit though. A lot of water seems unnecessary.

It's not bad, the idea behind it is solid but the tilt on the picture is kind of distracting.
It might have been more acceptable if you had a higher aperture lens where the background was more blurry (like 50mm 1.8) but hard to not notice it with that aperture.

i'm not sure. it's the tamron 70-200 vc if that helps. you can see the EXIF yourself so you know 200mm/f2.8 is a factor. i agree though i was pretty amazed when i saw it

Ignore the dumb 1000px rule, especially if it means your panos end up being only 227 pixels tall and too damn small to see anything. Both panos have pretty bad composition though, really wide skinny panos are generally not that great especially here where you're cutting off the top and bottom of buildings and stuff. You could always add another row of stitched photos to keep the aspect ratio from being too skinny.
Also funny enough I posted a photo of that same art thing at Rice a couple of weeks ago. Are you a student there? I'm not, but I like visiting Rice every once in a while to take photos and stuff, it's a very nice campus.

You're stitching the panos together from multiple shots, right? You're aware that you can stitch together multiple rows and multiple columns of photos? So rather than stitching together 3 photos in a 3x1 grid, you could do 6 photos in a 3x2 for example. I don't do stitched panos very often so I don't have any recent examples, but for instance this photos I made out of 6 photos if I remember right and notice how it's wide but not super skinny.
