What's the most hip looking dslr or mirrorless? I want everyone to know I'm hip af when I walk around the art gallery or sit in a cafe drinking a flat white.
Buy a Lytro Light-field camera. It's obscure, it looks weird, people WILL ask you questions about it, and it will give you whacky looking photos. It's also a nice phallic shaped camera, so it'll feel great when you indefinitely put it inside your asshole.
>>2812095
This actually looks pretty cool. It even has a 16 megaray sensor :^)
>>2812088
X-Pro2 by far.
There's also the new Pen F. It's sole selling point is that it looks old.
Any Leica

a couple of dogs, a snake? I dunno

Nikon DF.
>What's the most hip looking
Probably the Sigma Quattro. It's one of the only cameras not styled after a bar of soap or with a stupid DSLR styled grip.
>>2812116
The X-Pro 2 actually functions and is just styled after a rangefinder. The ISO dial is hipster as fuck.
The Pen F is a dead weight that's supposed to make people go "ooh" and "ahhh". It's just like the Nikon DF.
>>2812182
It says it right there on the camera
>>2812180
Nikon Df.
Legitimately good full frame dslr, but without video.
Expensive.

Sony a7 (your hip already)(bonus for SonyFaggotry)(double bonus if you use an old belt as a neck-strap) Digital for a nod to the present and the future
Add a 1880 view camera lens, analog for respect for the history of photography and the original purity
Something Old, Something New
Grow a beard, get the Nazi under/parted/schlitzie haircut, some scuffed brown dress shoes, old indigo jeans with rolled up cuffs, argyle socks, a wife-beater, tucked-in red flannel shirt (with tastefully turned up cuffs), suspenders, heavy black-rimmed glasses, a battered canvas or leather messenger bag, a dozen "cause bracelets" and a 1980 silver Casio digital wristwatch
Tattoo's and gauges are assumed, bonus for holes in the sole of your shoe, extra credit for carrying a copy of "On the Road"
Don't forget a locally crafted artisanal brew in a swing top recycled bottle
You will need security to keep all the SJW "Hip" chicks from raping you right there in the gallery
Do this and you will single yourself out as a man in the know, a mover and a shaker, a trendsetting man among men
Good Luck

Holy fuck, you are right. Mavica is the ultimate hipster cam.
No one uses it and it's relatively hassle free - perfect for lazy millenials.

A mistake
Film is clearly superior to digishit so if you want to be a true hipster you need to be shooting pre-1970

This is pretty much all OP needs.

Did they cut up an A7 and put it in an old body?

Nex 5 actually.
http://petapixel.com/2014/09/12/18-year-old-retrofits-old-konica-rangefinder-sony-nex-aps-c-sensor-works/
>>2812707
It's pretty ingenious how it all works. The digital camera guts are essentially just film replacement. The shutter button triggers the digital sensor bulb mode, and the Konica operates as it does normally. The pictures he got with it are quite excellent, and the rangefinder still works as a rangefinder!
The same guy is working on doing a similar conversion kit for the Leica M3, which could be quite terrific if he can pull it off

Are these two things why /p/ hates it so much? If not, then why?

because it fails on its main goal. It doesn't look retro, it doesn't work like modern, it's bigger than it needs to be, it's gaudy, it's chunky, it's ugly, and uncomfortable. It's too modern to be old, and too old to be modern.
>>2812406
>You will need security to keep all the SJW "Hip" chicks from raping you right there in the gallery
>implying men can be raped
Fuji so you can look hip just like all the other people trying to look hip with a Fuji. You'll fit right in by trying to not fit in. Perfect!
>>2817386
My big problem with it is like the other anon said, it's like a late 60 something man trying to squeeze into the moleskins he wore to Woodstock.
Also the fact that it's a D4 sensor in a D800 body, but it fails to bring the pros of either.
It's fated to see the discount axe along with other fads, like Hasselblad's re-badges.
>>2817386
>If not, then why?
Because the controls are retarded.
And proper physical controls was the one thing that would have made using it a nice experience.
>>2817386
actually got one by trading shit + cash for mostly shit...
about the size, its still smallest ff that nikon haves so far, and neat thing about it it takes somewhat all nikon F lenses, exept for the 180 fisheyes that sink. and battery lasts forever since no video. shame menus are quaranteed nikon clusterfuck and mirror cannot be really locked up for using said fisheyes for instance... mirror comes down when shooting anyway, but I like it since oddly fits my pathetic lifestyle
>>2818831
>battery lasts forever since no video
Do you believe that merely having a video feature on a camera drains battery even when you're not using it?
> its still smallest ff that nikon haves so far

>>2818832
df is smaller, what's your point
>>2818832
Testes
>>2818838
It's 3mm wider, and 3mm less tall. That's not smaller.
Unless you're going full retard, and saying that front to back, 15mm is smaller, when you don't put a lens on the front... is that what you're saying? Because since they take the same lenses, they have the same flange distance, and so the lens will be the same length on the front once you add it, and all you've removed to make it smaller is the comfort of the grip.
>>2818832
overall lighter and smaller than d610 then
as for the batterylife I'm just comparing it to my old dx frame that used the same battery and did not last half as long while shooting this with similar settings... dunno where it comes from then so sorry for framing the video feature for it.
not really biased to talk about the camera and nikon alltogether since i paid about 800'ish for the frame so I'll need to do for me since everything even close to this is about 2k used...
>>2812471
ISO 640
f/13
1/2s shutter speed
wtf
>>2818921
On a tripod, f/13 for DOF, and the rest to get the exposure right. What's the issue?
>>2818922
It's a stationary subject and a stabilized camera. No excuse for ISO 640.
>>2818922
and the lens are kind of out of focus either. man...
>>2818833
>falling for the meme
>>2818832
>100g heavier
How fucking retarded are you? And I know you shouldn't judge a camera based on looks, but God that thing is ugly. It looks like it's been half melted in an oven or something.
Get a Super Graphic rangefinder, with a 6x12 back, only shoot without a tripod, remind everyone it's panoramic constantly. Get a shitty old Kodak 90mm lens whose image circle barely covers 120mm, tell people vignetting makes it authentic.
Vintage? Check.
Obscure? Check.
Unwieldy and useless? Check.
Legitimately a garbage piece of equipment? YES
