well i know shit about band photo, but i know when i see a good one. aang from this very board does good stuff, maybe an anon will come up with her tumblr.

now, what id do? id look for the scene this band wants to be part of, look at its best/most prominent bands and ape some of the aesthetics, while putting some of my own vision.

Technically the photos are pretty good, I just think the models need to be a bit more serious. The goofy looking lad in the beanie is pulling a silly face in pretty much all of the pictures. It's fine to have one silly photo out of a session, but he sort of ruins the tone of the photos. Take >>2798405 for example. Serious, serious, serious, stoned hipster at 7-11 deciding what snacks to buy. Also some of them are kind of over-lit, as in the lighting looks quite fake instead of complimenting the photo.

Overall I think >>2798380 is the keeper. Looks almost like they're standing on a movie set against a flat background, really like it.

OP, i think you cant make them badasses, because theyre genuine dorks. then, you should use that for the photoshoot. make something thematic. theres a recent kim deal video clip where the whole band is dressed as waiters, their name on a little plaque and everything.

for them, idk, get them into a blockbuster type place and make them the salesclerks. something super ironic like that.

It's close but not right. You could have done better.

These are pretty awkward too look at. Everything about the guys especially but also the photos themselves just feel kinda tryhard and fake. Looks like the band searched for 'inde rock band + seattle + kreuzberg + nmh + vintage' on google and went with that as their style, and you did the same with 'rock band photo', resulting in an insipid copy of a copy of a copy. >>2798405 and >>2798388 are almost parodic.

But I guess it's a hard genre to nail. The first one I kinda like, but I would like to see a wider, more symmetrical comp to amplify the flatness that's already there.
