I received a "broken" "Sony DSC-P43" digital camera from my aunt. When turned on with new AA batteries, it quickly drains them out. So, does it compensates to pay for a fix, or should I throw it away?

How quickly are the batteries draining? I have a P71 and the battery life isn't that great.

She gave me the cameras because they are broken. So she bought new ones.
I mean, unless you are dirt poor or a hipster, you might as well give up on this. I mean, you could crack it open and check there are no obvious shorting connections, but I think if you need to order anything you might as well save your money and use your phone camera which will be better.
