whenever i fire the shutter release on this fed, the curtain stays open like this. does anyone know why?

how would I go about fixing this? thanks in advance.
I had a similar problem with my zorki. I cleaned the shutter with alcohol, regreased, released and manually pushed it back.
It's not the 100% scientific or detailed answer you're looking for, but it worked for me.

this seems like what I will end up doing, but I just wanted to make sure that this wasn't a result of changing the shutter speed without cocking it first or any other mechanical problem.
