I'm old enough to have seen this shit the first time round.
Sure a lot of it is crap but hidden away there are usually some gems.
The main redeeming factor in my opinion is that they have at least gone to the trouble of making an actual zine rather than just uploading to instashit.

uwot. print shops have all kind of papers. i did a mini photobook/small magazine last year. used matte couche 180g, because i wanted it to be sturdy. thin paper gets all curly and wavy. printing wasnt that cheap because i got the best (wanted good colors), but it was worth it. however if you do lots you can get discount. talk.
got the stuff for a guy to cut it with a machine, then square bracketed them myself.
of course you can do this at home with home printer and cheap paper, its all in the aesthetic you want to surround and support your photo.
