Who are the greatest Architecture Photographers of all time past and present?
Also, why is medium format considered better for architecture photography? The resolution argument seems pointless these days and FF has a better selection of tilt shift lenses, what am I missing?
Is Moby a good architecture photographer? Or is his photography regarded as good because of his celebrity status?

Becher
All time imo Julius Shulman. So much architecture photography is very commercial, almost like stock product photography (I guess the main purpose is to sell an idea).
Also, large format is king of architecture photography because of the camera movements (rather than being done because of the resolution). Digital with its tilt/shift has taken over a bit though

Easily the Bechers. Nobody can really match their output, their technical precision, their originality, or their lasting influence.

Gursky as well though he was a student of the bechers so it's expected

is it just me or does it look like there's literally black lines painted around some things

When the matter is art architecture photography, probably Becher's are the greatest, but regarding commercial architecture photography Julius Shulman is the great photographer, the most influent, like >>2726759 pointed out.
Another one whom I consider great is Marcel Gautherot, tho his pictures sit somewhere in-between architecture and documentary photography.

Yeah, shadows are inverted in some places
Lucien Herve

When did Gursky shoot architecture?
>hey guys look at me, I heard of the Düsseldorf school once!
What's next, you telling us that Thomas Ruff did architecture as well?
>>2728903
What this guy said.
My parents are architects, I grew up reading their architecture and design magazines and to be honest I have zero idea of architecture photographers, even though I guess they are my whole visual background.
Recommendations? I don't have their AD magazines and so on with me.
>>2728951
Maybe he meant those two shots of buildings that gursky did?
I don't remember the buildings.
>>2728972
You mean Montparnasse?
>there is a house in his shit, so it's architecture photography

Well, if the guy who suggested it doesn't know better...
But yeah, I wouldn't consider gursky an architecture photographer.
