I'm ready to go small.
Should I get anything else than a Ricoh GRV?
Goto gear thread!Enjoy your dust.
You can look out for Coolpix A or Fuji x100 series.
Now you can delete the thread.

been using a GR for over two years and I have had no problems with dust. I get that some people have tho.
IMO it's the best pocket camera.
>>2714518
coolpix a
>>2714530
Same, I've had my Ricoh GR since the day it came out and not had any dust problems. Taken it hiking with me every time I've gone somewhere too.
>>2714586
I am not getting it, either. Even Daido switched back to the GR after he got a Coolpix A from Nikon for his work.
>>2714518
GR of course.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it
Do you guys carry it in your pocket?
>>2714654
Yes. I usually store it in a small microfiber pouch to keep the dust/lint out.
>>2714654
I like to carry mine in a Lowepro Dashpoint 20 case. It's a really easy in- easy out case with a wide zipper mouth, and it's big enough that you can still fit the GR in there if you have the filter adapter on it and an Arca-Swiss tripod mount.
Good dust and rain protection.

Jacket pocket if I'm wearing a jacket. If not then in a backpack or something, it's not really small enough for a pants pocket.
Can someone explain the dust meme. Does dust easily get into the lens or on the sensor, if so why?
Get the GR
i want to be cremated with this thing

Looks like shit senpai
>>2714850
Like it,
Do you have a full res somewhere?
+1 for the GR, would recommend getting an optical viewfinder though, especially if you're used to using an SLR. The Olympus VF-1 cost me like $35 oz bux used and it's perfect
>>2714808
Dust gets on the sensor less easily than an interchangeable lens camera, but unlike the ILC, you can't take the Ricoh GR (or similar any other fixed lens camera) apart to blow the dust off yourself. So if you ended up with really bad dust you'd need to send it in for repair.
Yeah I know, quite a story, yawn.
>>2714860
I thought some brave anon somewhere actually found a way to fix the problem by taking it apart?
>>2714866
Yeah you can disassemble the camera and pull out the sensor and clean it.
Or you could just take pictures with the damn camera and not worry about it because it's a nonissue.
>>2714854
Second this. Would be interesting to see the hi res picture.
Went overseas with bunch of cameras, shot with only the GR for the most part.
You really don't need anything else. Great camera.

>>2714850
which model of GR do you have?
>>2715081
well i got the GRv february of 2014, so the first model of the V?
all i know is that it was way before pentax bought out ricoh, so it wont show up in my EXIF, that is how i know when someone bought a ricoh
>>2715089
That depends on what version of firmware you have, Pentax already belonged to Ricoh before the GR came out. I think earlier firmware versions will say PENTAX RICOH and later ones just say RICOH, if I remember right.
>>2715089
Ricoh bought out Pentax, not the other way around.
And the oldest GR's said "Pentax Ricoh" as the company name in the exif, because that acquisition occurred before it came out.
Later, Ricoh decided to change the merged company name to just Ricoh, so later cameras just said "Ricoh" as the company name in exif.
Of course if you upgrade your firmware, that updates as well.
Just found dust on mine recently had it for two years oh well time for a new one.
>>2715551
Bring it in for a cleaning, or just throw it at me very very gently.
>>2715551
What's dust?
>>2715551
oof that's a bad one. I have a little tiny bit on mine but you can only barely make it out when it focuses to infinity (for some reason). Maybe try cleaning it yourself, I've heard it's not too hard
>>2715551
You probably spent longer typing out that post complaining about the dust than it would've taken you to clone out that one single spot.

i ended up calling Pentax its only 80 dollars to have it cleaned which sounds good to me they said it would take 14 days with is decent. I'm going to china next week so ill buy a new one for that anyway while my current one is getting cleaned.
