Get a film camera bro, even a cheap Zenit for 20EUR or whatever will do. Stuff like walk show potential, you just take too much pictures without thinking about it.
A film camera will make you think twice before taking a shot, make you question if a shot is really worth it or not. You'll find yourself taking more quality pictures and I'd love to see them.
Pic related is how I would have shot the fence picture. Take away the people, focus on the dude and his fence, even if most of the picture os just fence. If you would have stepped two steps to the right you could have gotten the nice structure of the fence on the black sheet on there, since the sun gave some nice backlight

Spot on criticisms. A lot of the time I feel I use B&W as an aesthetic crutch. I actually do own a film camera, but I use it very sparingly on shots I think are good (like you said). My naming conventions are just so I can find the photo in my export folder; a bit more interesting that 'IMG_69420' if nothing else.

Sorry to edit your photo, but I felt this was the easiest way to show you what can be done to improve your shot. I rotated slightly (making the electricity pole at the top vertical with the image), then cropped out the unnecessary space to even up the composition. I boosted the shadows to show more detail, while still maintaining the engulfing darkness. It would have been great if the letter P was lit up, but other than that it's a nice photo, well done.

Don't get too excited mate, this does not in anyway mean your photograph is good. Flickr Explore uses some type of algorithm, if you get a certain amount of views within a certain time period you will make it to Explore. Take a look at some of the images that get explored, everyday you'll find atleast one snapshit of a Barbie Doll. Now I'm not saying your photo is shit, but it's certainly nothing spectacular.

I know lads, as I said, I don't like the christmassy theme, and the foreground is too busy. It's definitely not my best work, I just thought I'd mention that I got 'explored' since it hadn't happened to me before and it added some context to the pic I took that day. I'm not quitting my job and going pro now that I think flickr has elevated my pic to the next level or something. It got a lot of views in a short amount of time on r/itookapicture and groups so that's why it was chosen.
The photo is fine, as you say, looks like an above average tourist shot rather than something I'd hang on my wall.

This would have been cool if you had moved the geese closer to the rock formations and centered them in between and then moved the pyramid-like rock in the top center over to the right so it was equally spaced with the other two. To be honest I just work on my technical skills.
If you're looking to get into art photography, it helps to create a cohesive set and have some sort of intent behind the work. The easiest way to get views and such is to appeal to the lowest common denominator of human emotion (especially on the internet:) sadness, loneliness, desperation, unrequital, etc. Title your pieces/sets in such a way that the audience can infer your intent without a written explanation.
This too is a skill, and as you develop the theoretical framework behind your existing pieces, you will start having ideas for new ones.

These photos are everything that's wrong with "street photography".
There is nothing interesting about any of these. You just took three pictures of three people you came across on the street and are attempting to pass them off as what? Street photography, photojournalism... what are you documenting? what are you trying to say or show? Whats interesting in these? Tell me why you think these are more then snap shots and ill retract everything i said...and I understand it's not just you and I'm ranting on your photos when so many others do it but it's just trash. There is no redeeming aspect of these photos other then the fact that their in focus and your exposure is decent.
As a photographer you should be at least attempting to document something, show something interesting, have a general theme or direction to your work. Shit even if your meeting is just some abstract pattern of black and white at least make it interesting to look at

This is true and if it is the case I will apologize. I feel bad ranting on some poor guys photos.
However candid portraiture or not these are boring. A lady walking and talking on her cell phone? I could literally take that picture a hundred times a day.
The picture in the middle is the best of the three. The exposure is the best and the subject matter as well. But EVEN still it's a miss. If they could have gotten that stay off the steps sign above her head more prominently in the shot...it's a great pic. To me it's a miss. That's my opinion however and it doesn't make me right.
The third is also not horrible but to me it's a little underexposed. I have a very hard time debating exposure however because everyone has their own opinion on what's perfect, some go a little hot, some go a little dark, some in the middle. Any way can work. But this picture is a miss too. Again I feel like it's got elements of a good picture but I would have shot it with the main subject in the left third column of the picture and the light pole with the women sticker occupying the right third.. luggage and crap in the middle. But that's my opinion again and maybe I'm wrong and they prefer it this way. I still however think it's not a great image regardless, and I think they didn't really put much thought or time into the composition or the post. You need to put time into one of them.
