Sorry, your subject is interesting but the execution is poorly done. The lighting is terribly taken advantage of, the angle is poor and your use of b&w was badly done as well. Too much grey and the subjects blend in with the rest of the photo.

Anyways, I took that picture at night using Kentmere 400 pushed to 1600. Dev'd with 1:100 rodinal for 1 hr. Other than that, there is really zero post done to the picture after I scanned it. I thought the contrast was good, since....well they were actually painted white and standing in a dark area.
The thing they did was stay still until someone tipped them in that little bucket next to them. Kinda neat I guess.

overblown HDR? i really don't think you know what you're talking about, son. It was a 3 exposure of -1 EV, 0 EV and +1 EV, that is extremely subtle HDR. It's very common for people to hate HDR I understand but usually it's just because they're too lazy or don't have the software to do it themselves. I'd ask you to post your own photo's but I know you just have pictures of butterflies and happy old people in the street you've shot in JPG on your Nikon D3100. Give me an example of HDR that isn't "overblown" or post something better of your own, if not, then fuck off.

The photograph by itself isn't a complete failure, it's just a bit boring and HDR effect is definitely up for debate (personally I think it looks awful). The worst part is the text "SOLE" partly masked behind the shoe; it's gay as fuck.

it's my photo btw, i do not care if u dont like it and i am not surprised really because lots of people dont really like HDR (mainly the ken rockwell tier JPG ppl). the shoe belonged to a friend of mine, he lost the other one when i to the beach with him a few years back (he is dead now) and the remaining shoe was kept by another friend of mine so we decided to take it out for some photographs. thanks for the critique ^^
