Not really. 10lb mono is so much bigger and heavier than 10lb braid.

The only upsides to mono over braid are price, visibility, and can help with the shock on the knot. But two are easily fixed with a leader and the third is untrue once you realize you don't have to throw out braid after 6 months of use.

Could it be that, since mono has stretch to it, they have to use it so the heavy weights they use don't snap the line?
>>
>>794464
>casting competitions

Because mono is smoother. So granted you are using the same diameter line, the mono will come off the spool a little smoother and further.

But the mono will break at 4lbs while the braid breaks at 15lbs.

I don't even have that many of those traditional chubby crankbaits either. Part of it is because they are a bitch to store. Other part is I really never had much luck with them.

I have a decent amount of rattlers, but a lot of Rapala Original and Husky Jerk (type) crankbaits. A few deep divers, but I have grabbed some of the Rapala Shad-Raps and stuff lately. Those have great action and don't dive super deep.

Well I just caught my biggest fish of the year so far
And didn't even get a picture for you guys

21-22 inches
And by my estimation 4.5-5 lbs
It had the bigfest gut I've seen in a while,
It got hooked deep
Ad of course iforgot to bring plyers since I was trying to travel light since I as with my mom ( she wanted to go sit by the water)

I couldn't muscle the hook out since she was there and is squeamish about that kind of stuff
So I quickly cut the liner and let it go without a picture

All about da Mepps.

I'm mostly just trying to show people that it's possible to do a lil customization with those flat Plano tray boxes. Tackle bags are GOAT compared to the old school plastic flip-open boxes, but it can be difficult to fit some larger stuff (like spinnerbaits) in them.

Too bad more companies don't make crazy blades like these Abu inlines.

I fucked up with that yesterday. If I'm going for largemouth specifically, I normally don't need pliers. So I had my Leatherman in my tackle bag like 100yds down the shoreline. Ended up gut-hooking a lil largemouth and had to run over there with the fish.

Ended up having to just cut the line anyway. I couldn't get it out. And I gave my operating room curved pliers to Miami anon the other weekend so I need to get a new pair of those for the real tricky hooks.

I just needed a halfway decent tackle bag knoife and the price was right. I like the orange handle too, good grip if my hands are wet and slimy and it's bright in case I leave it in the grass.

i started fishing around 7 PM today. Switched lures like 5 times until I got a largemouth on a Black Fury today.

Let me tell you, Idk if you tried any of the GLO lures, but they're shit compared to any black fury. My first impression of the aglia glo is that it's a night time lure since it glows in the dark. I've never gotten a bite on it after dark and it aint like you can fish an inline spinner wrong.... It is OK in direct sun though, sort of like how you can throw white curlytails for crappie.
>>
>>794556
I thought about those GLO Mepps. There are also some UV Blue Foxes that I want to eventually order online. Not so much for the night fishing, but everything here seems to like the bright colors even in clear water.

Those Black Fury Mepps have a slightly different blade profile compared to Agilas too. I think they might be a little louder than Agilas. And those are reccommended for night. I have a Strike King "Night" spinnerbait that is all dark black and purple. Not sure why but dark colors are the way to go at night.

glow in the dark stuff is pretty popular/effective for salmon and steelhead, used very early morning or even overnight at times. I don't know how effective for your typical lake/stream fishing they are outside of that. I've used some glow in the dark stuff for evening ice fishing too. Inline spinners are the best. You guys should make your own, i've done it for years. Use them on trout/salmon/steelhead and pike. check out http://www.pen-tac.com/. I've used silver plated blades for years, they are very effective. Shine in a much different way that nickle. For the most part you wont find real silver on factory spinners.
>>
>>794575
I hate letting them go with the hook. Most of the time if it's really bad and I can't finesse it out, I would rather kill the fish right there than let it swim away with a hook in its throat.

Damn, bookmarked. I have been wanting to grab one of those inline spinner kits so I can customize some stuff and put offset worm hooks on there but I don't want to cannibalize $6 Mepps. Only other kit I saw (maybe on Bass Pro's website or a link somebody else posted) looked pretty cheap.

I need to find some good chartruese paint too. It's hard as hell to find chartruese bladed spinners. Inline and regular. But I have done work with them. I had a Mepps Agila #3 with the natural brown skirt and a chartruese blade and that was awesome but I snagged it after only a month or two of owning it.
>>
>>794580
desu i may have ripped the hook out if i could grab it better but mom was there, Theres now a fish swimming around with a 3/0 hook in ts throat, i managed to rip off the horny toad though, so maybe it has a chance, i find it funny i was using a smaller frog earlier then when i put on the larger frog it hammered it

Anyone whi fish's alone have any stories of run-ins with suspicious people in the wilderness?

I don't usually fish alone but last time I did I ran into 3 people who could have easily robbed me for my stuff but I friendly talked my way around them and left. They asked if I saw the police too, I told them no. When I got back to my car the game warden was there and after he got done checking my fishing license he went into the woods after the mexican guys. I assume they were illegal mexican immigrants who were illegally fishing. Im going to the same spot again tomorrow, alone. If I see them again they might remember me and be pissed.

I still need to use those a little bit more. I was running one of those Perfect Plastics toads the other day and got a couple fish to take shots at them but it's hard to get a good hook set.

I like those KVD ones a lot. The body is a little thinner than the Zoom toads so the hook comes through more and the legs are a little longer so they have more movement. Also seems like I can run them a little bit slower than the Zoom ones and they will stay on top of the water.

Casting them weightless on #10 braid works suprisingly well too. I just run them like a buzzbait.

i was fishing the rivet the other day and as i was about to walk down the street to my next spot a car pulled into where i was fishing, i was sitting down taking a drink and resting for a minute a guy got out and started setting up some shit at a picnic table,

oh yeah, they are plated. This is a book by the guy that I learned a lot of this from. I lived in the same town as he and actually used to buy kits from him for cheap. Sadly he doesn't do the kits anymore. He had a guy that would paint the lead bodies for him, was a real nice set up

I want to do a couple chartruese blades. Maybe get some good model paint that I can lay on thick. But if I place an order, I will def make a few with the silver blades.

The bullet weight thing is a good idea. I could easily stick a 1/2oz one on there and run pretty deep with a smaller blade. I have a few Blue Foxes with the weight painted bright colors and a silver blade and they have worked well for me. I just want the damn chartruese blade though.

>>794597
There are a handful of Dick's around. I'm at one for work almost every Wednesday. They don't have the lizards in-store though, do they?

And those Rage Tails look decent. They are the same company as the Perfect Plastics which are some of my favorites so they can't be bad. I have a pack of Rage Tail worms I got from MTB but haven't used em yet.

powdercoatings the way to go with jig heas etc, im sure you could do some spinner blades, You just pick up a cheap ass toaster oven from craigslist, ( or a heat gun) heat the blade, dip it, then heat again untill it looks glossy, then let cool, easy enough and its cheap
>>
>>794601
you can use colored tape on your blades as well. get some chartreuse, cut to match. Put it on the inside of the blade so that it will show from behind, especially if fishing in current. Very effective
>>
>>794605
>325F
Wow. I know powdercoating would be the way to go but I didn't think it was possible to do it at home. I was thinking spray paint at first but model paint would probably lay on thicker. I know I would have to repaint them after a bit though.

How can I fish a large pond filled with weeds?
>>
>>794611
i didnt know if you wanted to be heating paint in your kitchen, especially since you reheat it after applying paint, Plus you can usually get a toaster oven for free from craigslist then you dont have to deal with paint fumes in your home, or paint drips in your oven, Plus powdercoating is relitivley cheap, only 5 bucks for 2 ounces of it

What weight line are you running?

I would just do the stuff for a Texas rig. Bullet weights (~1/4oz), Offset worm hooks (size depends what baits), and then some soft plastics like worms, super flukes, brush hogs, lizards, crawdads...

The pic here >>794616 are the weighted swimbait hooks with the little spring deal on them. You can do those for stuff like the Zoom Super Flukes but you could run a Texas rig with those too.

buy their parts in bulk, put em together and sell them seems like a good plan

50 shafts:
$7.50

50 GEN-U-INE 24k gold blades:
$89.78

50 bodies:
$68.68

50 vmc trebles
15$

100 stirrup clevises
10$

100 brass bearings
$6.50

disregarding shipping costs, you will have 50 clevises left over and break even if you sell completed inline spinners at 3.85.

might be cool if you sprayed the blades with the sc/out/s logo in black

Here's a pic of a lizard Texas-rigged. You just slide a bullet weight on the line before you tie the hook, then pop an offset worm hook on there and rig the soft bait like the pics.

I end up using 3/0 or 4/0 EWG (extra wide gap) worm hooks for most stuff. 3/0 will work for most worms, lizards, and brush hogs. 4/0 for the flukes/shads, fatter crawdads, frogs.

I would reccommend going with the lizards or brush hogs. I have been doing well with those lately. If you are fishing them in some grass or weeds, the little legs, claws, and tails stick out and the bass go crazy. In weeds like that, the darker black and blue colors have been doing well since they stand out against the green and brown background.

And you can youtube how to fish them. How I normally do it is cast them out and let it hit the bottom. Then give it little hops along the bottom with breaks in between each hop for a second or 3. You will feel the fish bite, and you want to give them a couple seconds to pick up the whole bait before setting the hook. If you set it too fast, they might only have the tail in their mouth and you won't hook them.

And when I'm fishing really weedy lakes, I like to try and cast as far past the weeds as possible. I will run the bait slow along the bottom until I get to the edge of the weeds and then start reeling faster so the line and bait doesn't get all caught up. In thick vegetaition, the bass will be lurking right on the edge of them a lot of times looking for something to make the mistake of swimming outside the weeds. I get a lot of hits doing that when I am like 2'-3' from the edge of the weed bed.

1/4oz bullet weights, or possibly 3/16oz should be good for that then.

And I have never tried a live worm on a Texas rig so no clue. It might be possible. Otherwise just fish the nightcrawlers with a bobber like normal and cast it right past the edge of the weeds.

And be careful if you hook a fish near the weeds. Try and reel them in fairly quick so you can bring them over the top of the weeds. If they get tangled up on 8lb mono, you may lose them. That's why braid is nice for fishing in weeds like that. You can just rip them out with the weeds.

There are a couple sizes too, I think the regular brush hogs are 6" and the baby brush hogs are 4". Depends how big the bass are. And if you go to Bass Pro or wherever to buy them, just ask whay size hook they reccommend. I would probably just do a 3/0 EWG or 4/0 regular offset worm hook.

I can't even remember what ones I have in my gallon bag of creature baits. I have been using the KVD ones a bit lately, probably closer to the full size Zooms. I really like those ones though.

And their shads are still the perfect size. In between the 2 sizes of Zoom flukes.
>>
>>794656
Idk, that's a tough choice. A lot of people like the watermelon color for clear water. It is a green-ish color with red sparkles. But I have been doing well with the darker ones like Junebug (a dark purple/blue/black). Even in clear water, I like those dark ones. They stand out so well against the weeds.

I normally have it so the barb is just poked through but still flush up against the plastic. If I'm really running through thick weeds and stuff, I may leave the barb still in the lure and just have the very tip of the hook popped through. But normally having the barb just popped out will still keep it weedless.

Went fishing in a bayou in Galveston and some homeless guy cam up and tried to sell me some old baitcasting reels. Then he tried breaking into my car. Chased the fucker off and called the cops. Went back to my rods and caught my first ever red drum.

Also went to a spillway and saw some guys noodling. Talked with the a bit about it and they left. Get back to the parking lot and my window is smashed in. Been fishing therr since I was 10 and never had anything like that happen. Hard to go back.

Then I went fishing under a bridge on the Colorado River and some guy just walked up and told me his life story about how we was hooked on drugs and prostitutes and got brain damage after getting shot in the head, but then he found Jesus and got his hvac license and moved to Texas from Montana.

I just want to fucking fish.
>>
>>794789
With topwater, I wait until the fish drags it underwater and then set the hook. It is normally only like a second after they jump at it. If you try and set it as soon as they jump at it, you will just pull it from their mouth.
>>
>>794804
I hate leaving my stuff in my car because of that. If I'm near my car or in Boca, it's not so bad. But lots of the places it's all coming with me to the lake.

Sometimes I go to Bass Pro and it just looks so easy to walk away with thousands of $$ worth of rods and reels. People just leave them in the bed of their pickups sometimes.

Anyone got the rod/reel recommendation pic? I saw it a long time ago and finally have time to fish.

If not, rec me a saltwater combo. Thanks
>>
>>794863
I could post the pic, but most of them are aimed at freshwater fishing and will be like 3000 size reels.

If you want a decent saltwater spinning combo without breaking the bank, you should look at the Penn combos. They have the Fierce, Battle II, and Spinfisher combos and I think the prices are something like $90-$120-$150. The Bass Pro near me always has huge displays of them and sells a ton.

I think your best bet would be to go with a store brand setup. The Bass Pro setups are good for the money.

You could always do the Abu Silver Max on an Ugly Stik like I have. $60 for the reel and $40 for the rod. If I were to that again though, I would grab the Berkley Lightning Rod Shock instead of an Ugly Stik for the faster action which is nice with braid and baitcasters. I think if you can grab that Bass Pro Bionic combo right now, that will be the best bang for your buck. I was checking out those rods when I bought the Abu Vendetta and they were both pretty nice for $80. I think the reel is $80 too so that's a $160 combo for $120.

Bass Pro doesn't deal much with Lew's, but you might be able to find a Lew's combo at Cabela's or Dick's for that money. Third option if you want to keep it cheap would be one of those Okuma Stratus V baitcasters from Dick's. They go on sale for $30-$40 a lot and everybody says they are nice for the money. Then grab whatever rod you like. Still would say Berkley Lightning Rod casting with the Okuma would be great for ~$75 and leaves you a little extra for some PowerPro.

Otherwise both of those Abu combos will be nice. They normally give you pretty good rods with their combos as well. And they have the Orra combo for $130 right below and those are good reels.

Not gonna lie, this thing looks pretty good. The rod looks nice at 6'9" and fast action. 7+1 bearings and 7.3:1 on the reel so it will be a fast reel (which I kinda wish I had on at least one of mine).

If you have a Cabela's nearby, it's worth checking out in-store too. You want something that fits in your hand right.

Like they have a good grasp on it. I lost one today by dicking around and not ripping it out after setting the hook. Once you do set that hook you wanna just crank on that reel as fast as you can to get em in. For what ever reason the bull frogs were too aggresive to allow me to throw my frog today. If you are just looking for the regular weedless floating ones, they are all so damn similar. Booyah ones are nice and there are a couple other good ones. But I have an expensive LiveTarget one and it doesn't seem to do any better than the cheaper ones.

I have been digging the soft bait ones with no hook like the Zoom Horny Toads or those Strike King Perfect Plastics. They are a little different since they don't float if you stop reeling but I just run them with a steady retrieve on top and I do better with those than the hollow bodies.

Ehh, with the real warm water, it's hard as hell to fish with crankbaits from shore. South Florida bass fishing is different because the water is so fucking warm. It's like fishing in the hottest possible July or August heat wave up north because the water is bathtub warm from March to November. It's hard to catch bass actually on the hunt for baitfish. Slow stuff on the bottom is the only way most days.

I grabbed that 3DB jerkbait the other day and was trying it out for the peacocks. Got one following it but they get super weary. Might be the clear water in that lake but I have had them do it with X-Raps too.
>>
>>794406

peacocks or lmb? warm water bass are looking for big gains while expending the least amount of energy because their metabolism is up. florida has lots of slithering critters to eat so creature baits make total sense.

I know a dude who hunts them, I will probably see him Sunday and I'll ask him.

He rides a Harley everywhere and he showed me some pic of a 7'-8' gator on the bike with its arms on the handlebars and shit. It was cool.

>>795250
One day I will grab those minis. I've been digging the mini brush hogs too but the chartruese pepper lizards always seem to pull something nice out of the water.
>>
>>795254
I don't see many frogs around the lakes here, not sure why. I have toads and treefrogs around my house, but at the lakes I don't see bullfrogs and shit like ever. A couple of lakes, I will hear them at night. Nothing like IL though.
>>
Gators are probably a bitch to clean.

Does anyone here frog gig? I heard bullfrog legs taste a lot like chicken.
>>
>>795256
Those two were chilling right by one of my favorite spots ( lost another one guestimates close to 5 pounds today when it jumped and shook the hook)
Frogged were literally 5 ft away from me so I fed then some worms and shit
>>
>>795255
I've found I have to go with the more realistic and darker colors around here

They just won't take any of the electric colored stuff

I always used to think that when I was up north. My whole tackle box was brown, gold, and sliver. Then I got down here and dude at the bait shop mentioned something about how peacocks like bright colors. So I stocked up on chartruese and firetiger and the largemouth hit the lures better than ever.

And dark blues, purples, and blacks (think Zoom Junebug or Gooseberry) seem to work really well when running through underwater grass and stuff.

The hollow body ones have never done too well for me. Frog Skitter Pop works in the right conditions and the Zoom and KVD frogs work as well.

I'm thinkin maybe it's because lots of these lakes have the grass mowed around them and stuff. I do hear them sometimes at night but not a ton.

we definitely get a more interesting spawning dynamic with the weather up north

Gar love to take shots at the frogs too. One of the few things that will go for the hollow bodied frogs when I pause them. But can't really hook em.

I think pre-spawn for the largemouth is like mid-February because that is when they always hit like crazy.

I think the snakeheads spawn late spring/early summer and I read online they also spawn in the fall. And the Mayans will be nesting in the summer sometime so I think. I will probably see their little cichlid holes in a month and sometimes I can piss them off with an inline.

The peacocks were really early spring as well I believe but from what I hear they are a bit more active than largemouth in warmer water.

So either way if I want to catch something, I normally can. Sometimes I have luck with snakeheads on really hot days when largemouth are nowhere to be found and the Mayans are around all the time.

Forgot about the gar, they like to hang around shallow waters when it warms up too but it is frustrating trying to get em on lures. The presentation has to be spot-on like the bait is dying as the gar sees it.

florida fauna sounds fun.

I'm moving to Tennessee, and I've been reading up on the fishing. The biodiversity sounds real nice compared to just landing bass, pike, pickerel, carp and catfish.

here's to catching bowfins and gar eventually

Best day of fishing in a couple weeks.
>>
>>794997

All the country clubs and nice places around here have no fishing signs.

I've called ahead before and actually gotten permission over the phone, only to get turned away when I show up in person.
>>
>>795069

Chub.
>>
>>795310
Actually to correct the record it was a black bullhead catfish.
>>
>>795257

You cut gators up the middle, then use a fillet knife to kind of peel them out of their hide. Not too hard compared to fileting a fish with tougher scales. Easier than gar.
>>
>>795257

And frog legs taste like chicken the way everything else does. I. E. Not really but it's likely the only other non red meat comparison you have. Still damn tasty. Grilled or fried.
>>
>>795324
I fish at golf courses around here that all have no fishing signs but I've never gotten chased off if I go when all the golfers are in

Keep in mind that the latest most clubs will allow a 4some to tee off is 2:30 so if you go after 6:30 the course should be clear and then no one will give a fuck

The real problem is just people fishing while others are trying to play golf and they don't want people to go out there with a lawn chair and a case of beer and then be loud and litter all over the place so as long as you're not creating a scene it's okay

Some of the suspicious people i run into turn out to be alright. Ran into one guy (~50, i was 20 at the time) while i was fishing. He had a truck full of random stuff from backpacking gear, camera equipment, geology stuff. He was taking long exposure photos of fish swimming through river. Anyway we start talking and i realize he is one of those who will keep talking for hours. He tells me how he used to box and started throwing false punches a foot from my head lol. Then we talk geology for a while, and he followed me over and i fished for a bit while he showed me how to find waxworms in the stalks of plants, we still talking. I gave up on trying to shake him, and we decided to go to a different spot so drove over to it separately. We kept jawin for a while then exchanged numbers to go fossil hunting in some old gravel pits. Few days later he drove up to the state park i work at to show me a cubic meter size boulder he lifted into his truck for some reason. In a few weeks he went across the country to cali to help a friend of his with his business. Sent me an altoids tin full of hand tied flies from a guy he met at yosemite.

Meet alot of odd folk outdoors in my line of work you usually can sense if someone is actually dangerous.
>>
>>795380
Seems like he turned out to be pretty cool guy showing you where to get fossils and sending you those hand tied flies

I absolutely HATE those people that will talk your ear off though and I'm not one to throw around the term "hate" a lot but those people that just will not shut up and for some reason feel the need to give their entire life story to someone they just met are the absolute worst

I'm cool with having a little chit chat "hey what ya fishing?" "Catch anything?" Maybe talk about what's biting where and on what for a bit but beyond that it gets tiresome real quick

I'm too excited to go to sleep. Spent the night setting up a rod and tackle boxes for trout/shoal bass

I've only caught two brown trout but no rainbows and no shoal bass. They're almost all stocked but the spot I'm going to is supposed to be great for wading for trout. Anybody want to give me tips on my setup

>6.5ft kunnan medium loaded with 6lb blue mono
>1/8oz roosters
>size 0-1 mepps
>size 3 blue foxes
>1.5 to 3 in cranks
>lots of 1/8 roadrunners
>1/8 and 1/16 oz jig heads
>colorful crappie tubes and grubs (pinks, yellows, chartreuse, Christmas)
>1/8 marabou jig
>handful of beetle spin blades

I'd take the fly rod but it's set up for bass and I'm not great with it. Any advice? Im just gonna wade around in my outdoor pants and chacos and hit the holes and eddys

>mfw I hook into a striper on 6lb
>>
>>795390
I hate when people who aren't even fishing come up and talk to me. "You catching anything?" That shit gets annoying.

But that's what I get for fishing in public parks. The most annoying are kayakers doing laps around one of the lakes. Some of them like to casually go right through the area that I'm casting into from the shore.
>>
>>795398
Me and a friend call those people GAF'ers as in "Got Any Fish?". I don't mind having a quick chat with other fishermen as to what the action is like and where the fishing is at but I despise random people just coming up and sitting around for an hour telling me their life story. Seriously fuck off mate, go get some friends or something.
>>
>>795379

They cost 15 bucks brand new. I fucking love my Shimano IX's.
>>
>>795398
Yeah just the other day I had a non fisher ask me that and when I told him yes he said "o I didn't even know there were fish in here"

The pond is literally gin clear and you can see bluegills all along the bank and even some larger bass when they swim by
>>
I just loaded some 6 lb floro on my reel and I am really liking how far I can cast lures now (coming from 10 lb floro). It makes me wanna try braid now, because wouldn't I have similar casting but better line strength? But is it not extremely annoying to be tying on a new leader all the time? That's the only thing that makes me hesitant to use braid.

>>795403
One guy came up and told me I should use live bait after I said I wasn't catching anything. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>795409
Braid is the least smooth casting but that's really it's only downside aside from visibility (shouldn't be a problem if you're using like 10# braid) and cost
>inb4 but it lasts longer!
Yeah but it's still 40+ bucks for 300 yards
>>
>>795409
Depending on what you're fishing for you don't necessarily need a leader with braid

Bass aren't really line-shy but if you're fishing for trout I think you'd need to use a leader

I'm completely new to fishing. I need pro-tips on almost everything. Hit me.
>>
>>795413
Most important question before we get started is what will you be fishing for?
>>
>>795414
Pretty much anything freshwater that I can get in Michigan. I live in the South Eastern Michigan. I have a couple friends who are avid fisherman.
>>
>>795415
Ask your friends as they will know what specific tackle to get

That's definitely your best option as they can put you on a specific setup and lures that will catch fish there
>>
>>795415
I just don't want to have to rely on my friends to help me all the time. I want to hit the scene with confidence.
>>
>>795418
I figured as much. They have been guiding me along so far but they're not always around when I want to go. I guess it's just gonna take some time and studying. Really been scouting for the silver bass influx that I've been hearing so much about.
>>
>>795419
Well if they're avid fishermen and you're a novice it doesn't matter what you hit the water with they will do better than you

Just tell them you want to start fishing and would like some help getting started
They'll be more than happy to help and it will be a lot better actually getting tackle that produces in the area than just showing up with a motley assortment of whatever 4chan recommends you buy

I can tell you exactly what to get that will land you bass here in NC but that's likely to be very different from what you need

>>795420
Just ask for a recommendation on what to get and where to go
>>
>>795420
>Really been scouting for the silver bass influx that I've been hearing so much about.

Go to a local tackle shop and ask them about it
It will be much better than anything you read online you'll get that insider knowledge that can't be found elsewhere
>>
>>795424
I know, I know. I just feel like such a TOOL in person when I'm displaying such ignorance. I know it shouldn't feel embarrassing, but it kind of does. I seriously just learned how to properly rig a pole.
>>
>>795425
It's fine and no one really gives a fuck

We were all there at one point

If anything they'll be happy to see a new angler in the making
>>
how heavy a fish can a 4 pound fluorocarbon line handle? I've got it stuck in a branch before and pulled pretty hard, and it didn't break. It's all the line I've got right now because I usually fish for bluegill but going for bass tomorrow.
>>
>>795426
4chan is the coolest guy. Thanks ya'll. I hope to return some day soon with more to discuss and less to ask.
>>
>>795427
You'll be fine with that for bass

You'd be surprised the size of fish that light line can handle

>>795429
Feel free to ask away anon

I was just saying that asking your friends would be the best bet regarding tackle for your specific area

We're always welcome to having new fishermen on board here
>>
>>795411
>40bucks+
Not even. PowetPro is good braid and it is $30 for 330yds and it goes on sale for less a lot.

>>795411

>Braid is the least smooth casting but that's really it's only downside aside from visibility (shouldn't be a problem if you're using like 10# braid)

So you're saying that with braid I wouldn't be able to cast as far as with 6 lb. fluorocarbon? Cause that shit was smooth yesterday, on one cast I would have nailed a family across the pond if it wasn't for a tree in front of them.
>>
>>795476
Brand new braid and mono/flouro cast similarly but the mono and flouro get brittle over time so at the end of the season braid will cast just as well but the other lines will lose distance
>>
boy oh boy do I sure love when I walk over to the ponds I fish, take a couple casts and... off goes the U clip and off goes my $12 frog into the underbrush abyss. My fav tbqh
