I've always used something like that. If made correctly you can set the pot right on the stove with no pot stand and it's self priming as well so no need for a priming plate. Just fill the center, light, wait for the jets to take and set your pot right on top.

Depends entirely on use and how good you are at making things. The Trangia storm stove kits are full on storm stoves that burn hotter the windier it gets, but in calm weather you can't beat a penny stove for frugality and lightweightness, and a well made one works pretty well.

Btw tried that stove today. Works great even burns low % fuel like shit. Am pleased. This stove makes the alco burn better.... You can burn that grill ligjting fluid with it... The fluid wont burn othervise on it self if you pour it in cup or something! Thats pure facts ive tried
