The Vapor has a 'dashboard' (shroud with four lights in it) you can get and then wire the lights to anything. You can wire your low fuel light to one of those.

Naw man I was a pretty consistent poster on /dbt/ but it's gone to shit recently.

I'd imagine the US summer time puts people off posting until the kids fuck off back to school or whatever the seppos do.

Also the outback is riddled with suicidal critters.
When you see 2m tall dead kangaroos on the side of the road you get pretty cautious.
>>
>>15362933
That's north australia, friend. I haven't laid eyes on a boong for 3-4 years now, and I used to do IT for their regional schools back then. They're quite peculiar.
>>
>>15362928
Sounds a lot how he described it. A beautiful place with the most ass backwards politics and police you've ever seen. Then again he's a sixty year old minority mexican-american vietnam-veteran immigrant so he says he gets a pass from the cops. Said he had to hop through mad hoops to be able to own a real bike, and also said the cops can pull him over for no reason for an inspection?
>>15362936
The US is the same way with deer and coyotes everywhere, probably far more dangerous mile for mile. Let's face it, the real cancer is the yuropoors. The whole "summer" thing is a meme.
>>
>>15362936
I post more when I'm in school because I'm at my computer more
>>
>>15362945
For some reason the cops are able to conduct roadside inspections if they think your car/bike isn't compliant. They have a few simple tests they'll do with you sitting on the bike. If you fail any of them you get a "Yellow sticker", which is actually a yellow sticker with some gubmint writing on it. You have to take your ride over the pits to get made compliant again. You can't ride/drive until you do this because technically the thing is unregistered. You pay the inspection fee, pay for a temporary movement permit, and a fine.

They love doing it to cars with tinted windows, lowered cars, lifted cars, fender eliminators, blown headlights, dirty number plates, uncompliant helmet visors. It gets pretty bullshit sometimes because they're not mechanics, so you end up with cops trying to sticker your bike for having a windshield you cant see though.

Getting the bike was pretty easy, he might have had some problems converting an international license to a local one though. No idea how that works, other then the fact that I know the DoT makes you do stupid shit.

For all the horseshit that comes from the pollies and cops, I like it here.

Jesus christ. Says he gets pulled over all the time tho. Blows my mind that is actually acceptable or even legal. But I guess that is a cultural difference. Says its a lovely place tho, just wishes they could mix the best parts of aussieland with america but it is what it is. Obviously it works for him.

I suspect that it's one of those laws that was brought in to keep obviously unroadworthy vehicles off the roads, but once it was in it suffered from a horrible case of scope creep.

Buddy of mine got stickered for having his windshield tint too dark, apparently they can sticker your bike because your helmet's visor doesn't have a compliance sticker on it, or they think your car is too loud. I think the guy with the helmet one contested it and had it overturned in court, and had a couple of days worth of work plus costs paid in compensation to him.

I asked a cop at the station about the legality of having a helmet cam on mine, and he said that nobody really cares about helmet cams, but they'll still ping you on it if you're a dickhead, just to get you off the road.

>Each year we get a whole bunch of questions about different aftermarket helmet attachments. The Snell Standards and testing apply strictly to whole helmets and how they perform out of the box. Snell does not test, or qualify aftermarket helmet accessories. We only certify complete helmet structures. The addition, subtraction or modification of any part, component or structure integral to the performance of any Snell certified helmet may void completely, or in part the Foundation's ability to support claims of Snell certification for that helmet. This generally does not include cosmetic changes such as painting, unless it is performed contrary to the manufacturers' recommendations.

If you read in to the actual regs for qualifications the attachments must be readily breakable. Which is why the Arai sun shades pass. IDK, interesting read. Regardless, don't hit a fucking tree.

We do have DUI checkpoint things. There's a few buses that the cops have that are all set up inside with all this police stuff. Everyone calls them booze buses, same with the checkpoint.
They set up on the side of the road and pull over random people to breath test them. It's fairly random as well. I get waved through some and pulled up at others.

The next morning there's always a large line of cars parked on the grass beside the road, so that's all the people they've caught driving under the influence, which is fine by me.

I've really only ever been held up at a booze bus once, because they didn't believe that I had the correct license for my bike. I did have one but the new card was in the mail, so they got all shitty at me about it then let me go 5 minutes later.

I'm not the guy arguing that it pulls to one side, I don't think it would, but I guess it might. What happens when your right hand fork seal blows and the fork oil leaks onto the brakes? On a conventional system, you'd have reduced stopping power and pull over to investigate. But they do in the AMA SBC where Buell's compete. I'm not saying it's a game changer, but even in an interview with Eric Buell and the lead designer of the GSX-R a decade ago he admitted it was a superior system weight wise for a street bike. As I said before, it is what it is and it works, if it wasn't for patents and royalties I'd love to see what a real marque would do with it.
>>15363265

>what is the 1125R and 1190RX
They still race them to this day you know.
>>15363271
Which is real scenario but very unlikely. I'm just saying it works. That is all, I'm not saying it is best. I never made such an argument. Such innovation eventually lead to the demise of EBR after all.
>>
>>15363273
Nearly every single 'nobike' accusation I see on this board is not accompanied by a timestamped picture of a motorcycle. You fucking nobike.
>>
>>15363278
>unlikely
Have you ever ridden a motorcycle for longer than a week? Fork seals blow. Road debris gets all over stuff. Caliper seals fail. Disc mounts fail. Calipers seize. Single disc just has no redundancy at all. Maybe you should ride naked if you're not concerned at all that anything will go wrong.
>>
>>15363285
>Single disc just has no redundancy at all.
desu dual disc isn't about redundancy. it just spreads the heat load over two discs/calipers.
>>
I think I'm gonna buy a sv650 after my learner bike,
what do you think?

It's the best I can get since I'm still on my a2.
>>
>>15363287
Front brake unsprung weight wise, yes.
>>15363285
This just doesn't happen in reality. I mean hell what if road debris cut your brake line and both calipers failed?
>>15363295
Which is what a single larger disc accomplishes with less weight but with a more complicated wheel assembly.
>>
>>15363297

>>
>>15363301
Of course.
>>
>>15363302
Well if your left failed you would still have 100% front brake versus 50%. IDK man, maintain your shit. Dual front rotors have nothing to do with redundancy tho that may be a tangential benefit as you have shown.
>>15363297
Do it, stepping up to a 650 is great and the SV is an amazing bike.

Never had a problem with cops questioning the single seat status on the many times I have been pulled over by them.

I asked one and he just said that it's up to me if I want to run the risk of having a uninsured passenger, if they pull you over with a passenger on a single seat bike they will fine you for it tho.

What pads are you looking at? Sintered or just commuter spec organics?
>>
>>15363439
Got it new for $20,500 rideaway with rad guards and 12 months free rego. The bike comes with cruise control, heated grips, quickshifter and all those riding modes standard.
Insurance is like $1000/year but that also has my 300EXC on the same policy. It's expensive but I knew it was always going to be for insurance on a new bike.

The buying process took 5 days only because my bank was fucking about. BMW already had the bike in stock and it was ready the day after I signed the contract.

It's not an expensive bike to maintain or run. Cost the same as my mates GSXR750 to service and gets 6.5L/100km. It's cheaper than my car and that's all I was really going for.

BMW also sent out free chocolate brownies (/k/umfree of course) and a free neck warmer.

>>15363469
doesnt really effect us, if anything it will be good for our economy because the UK is likely to start relying on us more.

Half the reason our dollar is dying is because all of our farming industy is dying/being sold to china.
For an example,
Dairy farmers had milk prices cut 60 cents/litre so it is literally cheaper for them to drain the vats than it is to call the trucks to come pick the milk up, a lot of them are topping themselves.
same kinda thing is happening to all the farmers, wool industry is dying, beef industry is being crippled by hippies having a cry about how they are slaughtered in other countries and putting bans etc yada yada blah blah.

People don't realise how much of our economy is sheep and beef.

Same thing here in the USA, beef imports and such from Brazil are crippling our own domestic industry. There is nothing wrong with tarrifs, and I think that is one thing you ausfags have figured out. Fuck the commonwealth, fuck the EU, fuck NAFTA. USA, UK, and AUS are the real partnership we should focus on, not selling ourselves to China.

don't go fast, stopping sucks and you might hydroplane if the roads aren't draining well
watch for oil slicks
you won't be able to see visor up or down
it sucks ass, have fun

just ride as though you're a respectable citizen and everything will be fine, I've done a stoppie on a wet road before, you have plenty of grip.

Honestly bikes seem to deal with wet weather better than cars, you can still accelerate fast and everything.

sup dbt I've been getting a soft spot in my front brakes lately. holding the same pressure on the front brake lever, the brakes will be hard, then soft, then hard then soft very quickly. i assume i need new break pads, and i haven't had the brake fluid changed so i will do that too. i just wanted to know if this is normal or if this has happened to anybody before, or if it could be something else causing it like the calipers or something. i dont know I'm no mechanic, help would be appreciated.
