Quiet = good.

Lop off half the exhaust system and fit some appropriately sized drainpipe if you want more noise.
>>
>>15339528
but muuhhh performance

it's usually reasonably safe to assume that i can just weld some pipe together to match a new engine when i do the swap yeah?

top kek. but lets do this guys, lets have a perth meet at last!
but no lexcens.
>>
>>15339536
Depends.

Taking the mufflers out of your exhaust won't do shit for power, it'll just make it stupid loud.

Even if you did a full exhaust, "true" cold air intake and a tune you wouldn't see more than a couple of horsepower up top.

Might sound "better" but it won't do shit for performance by itself.
>>
>>15339521
>tfw used to live in padbury
>tfw used to work at whitfords
>>
>>15339559
Not going to bother with intakes because i've heard that the toyota stock airboxes are perfectly fine, maybe after the engine swap i'll consider it (and a new bonnet because space is fleeting)

Guess it's engine first followed by exhaust, will shitpost the results

The lebbo shitbags near my area do exactly this to commodores. Worst offender would be this VE Omega I see daily with wogblades, HSV front bar without fog lights fitted, random chromeshit stuck to everything, and a de-baffled exhaust from an SS fitted to the v6 auto.

Exhaust and intake are "supporting mods" in the same way an intercooler on a turbo car is a supporting mod.

Maybe talk to an exhaust shop about what's appropriate for your project.

Seems that Holden redesigned too much of the front end for this to fit. The screws are supposed to go flat into the leading edge of the car, but this has clips instead. Otherwise the dimensions looks like they'd almost fit onto my VH.

It's the perfect platform then. Massive pool of knowledge and affordable parts are available for the six cylinder models and the engine bay has a tonne of room for working on it.

Everything I know stems from working with my dad on maintaining our single family owned VS.
>>
>>15344736
Cool. How do they compare to Falcons?
>>
>>15344739
Couldn't give a fair comparison because I've never owned one, but being a similar kind of domestic I would say the experience would be about the same. Where I am from the Commodore certainly seems a lot more plentiful but I do believe that the salmon engine from the Falcon is much smoother and more powerful (if that's what you care about).
>>
>>15344743
Good to know, cheers mate.
>>
>>15344739
ef-el falcons are cool but the 6-cyl blows headgaskets too often and they're usually in the worst condition imaginable.
AU falcon is crap, do not touch.

vs commodore is overall a very nice all-rounder, even the auto v6 can skid without much trouble. at the same time it's got comfy suspension and a good-sized cabin (i'm 6ft4) though it's a bit old in appearance.
find one owned by an old person and you're golden.

How big a problem is rust for you?
I just don't wanna pick up something that rusts through in 12 months
>>
>>15345744
not that bad, if the rust is neutralised its not an issue. Most people get defected for body rust which is harmless and structural rust only affects only the worst cars driven around the beach. Certain car models have their worst spots (kingswoods-plenum and boot panel, falcon-doors, valiants-steering box railing and windscreens) but in general if the paint is OK rust is not an issue, keep drainage holes cleared and autosol any surface rust that comes up to keep it tidy

You can look after the chassis railing by pressure washing into it and getting all the debris and foreign objects such as sand out of it, and depending where the drain holes are the water should leak out of it aswell

The rustiest driving examples mainly died out from defects and scrapyards in the 90's/early 00's

>>15340494

fish oil doesnt neutralise rust, it only keeps un prepared steel from rusting if it ends up sitting for months.

You want rust converter, i use septone mainly and i apply it with a brush, and it deactivates the rust from spreading. I have rust all over my car, but its not bright orange, its a brownish black which is harmless.

The Foton? Ask Kyle what they're like. His company just bought 6 of the dual cab 4x4s. 4 of them have pending warranty claim with one of those currently in the shop in exchange for a courtesy car, and ALL six of them were delivered with the rear brakes siezed.

To anyone considering doing deliveries in your car.
Think long and hard about it.
Wear and tear on your car is just not worth it, the kms ive clocked on mine and the repairs ive accumulated mean that ive been cutting it razor thin.
Unless you do it on a bike or some daihatsu charade/holden barina that you got for $700 and an original recipe ultimate burger meal thats insured only for fire and theft dont do it.
>>
>>15349553
there is a kid nearby who delivers pizza in a vx ute.

is it fun tho?
>>
>>15349619
It's fun as hell doesn't feel like work at all doing what you like.
In the year or so that I've done it I've accumulated a lot of experience and learnt lots about driving.

just read this:

"Each delivery is about the same amount of wear as commuting to work every day. The same number of car-door slams, starter motor starts, etc. And on a good night, you might deliver 30 pies. So in one night, you do a month's worth of wear on your car. In a month, you've done nearly three year's worth. In a year, you've basically trashed the car."
>>
>>15348609
kek nice work queersland
>>
>>15349723
There's a reason a lot of private delivery guys buy ex-AusPost CT110s. $100-200 engine swaps and 105cc fuel usage goes a long way.
>>
>>15349723
what if you rig the car so when doing a delivery it doesnt stop, something like a turbo timer.

and stop the slamming the door or your walking home mister
>>
>>15349753
fuel consumption is the least of your concerns when delivering imo.
arent 110s 110cc? ive seen 200cc swapped ones and heard stories of the 110cc one getting bored to 200cc and then dying.
can't really do food deliveries without a car sadly. maybe one trip with a few pizzas/drinks on a bike with a box but not much more.
>>
>>15349770
sorry dad no more slamming.
ive heard of people leaving the engine running when delivering to houses, but when i have to run around to apartments that would worry me.
You could maybe do it with two sets of keys, leave one in ignition and lock the car manually with the key in door lock.
suspension wear is also where issues from driving in city arise, roads are often shit

More speaking as an added bonus. All the consumables on a CT110 are very cheap. If you use a chain guard you can dramatically cut down on how often the chain needs to be lubed as well.

Engines last about 30,000-40,000kms and are about $200 for a new one. It's held in with three bolts.

>arent 110s 110cc?
No they're 105cc.

>ive seen 200cc swapped ones and heard stories of the 110cc one getting bored to 200cc and then dying.
Biggest you'll fit is a 170cc which you can bore to about 190cc. You wouldn't use something like that for deliveries though.

>can't really do food deliveries without a car sadly. maybe one trip with a few pizzas/drinks on a bike with a box but not much more.
Larosa Leathergoods makes custom Pannieres for CT110. Could get something that'd do the job. They're rated to carry about 30kg of weight over the rear wheel.

Realistically if you're doing deliveries in anything worth money expecting to make money you're an idiot. You want a dedicated shit box for it. If it's something fun to drive like a Charade than that's a bonus.
>>

>>
>>15349810
yeah probably much better to do it on a bike like that with maybe a crate or bags, just tricky with multiple big orders.
I had to take a $200 dollar order which filled 2 of those big black bags pizza guys have, no way i could've done something like that without a car.

agreed about dedicated shitbox. It may be the case where i get one or just move on.I got into the job as a last resort when i was without work soon after getting my Ps and stuck around for nearly a year. >>
>>15349880
>I'm starting at a call centre (kill me) next week
Ouch. If it makes you feel better you can make a lot of money once you get in the swing of it if you start hammering out over time.

Place I worked had a centre a few floors down and one of the seniors was making about $4500 a fortnight before tax from overtime.

Also worth noting some people can do it, and some people can't. If you find it soul crushing get out as fast as you can.
>>
>>15349894
I worked at a place doing phone surveys for 2 years, pay was good.
its soul crushing no matter hwo you cut it however base pay is $23/hr+ commission on each sale and bonuses. I reckon I'll do bare minimum hrs a uni student can do, quit deliveries or cut down there big time.
>>

used vegetable oil isn't safe on newer diesels iirc

also they're expensive and particulate filters are a fucking nightmare

best delivery car here would be the nhw20 prius - discount rego (save $100 in victoria at least), cheap as fuck to run, laughs off most of the commuter/delivery wear & tear, used ones are cheap now
