>on the cheap
definitely, I got it for 15€ and after a few hours shelled out whatever the discounted upgrade for all DLCs (except wild run) was.
Had a lot of fun with the single player and discovering the world.
Only played 30 hours until I got bored of it, but that's mainly due to the lack of imports, lackluster offroad (for example jumping off cliffs and rockcrawling) physics and having noone to play with.

At some point I discovered that you can quick travel to "discover" the map, which I did to get the hidden car parts, but I would've enjoyed cruising with others to do that way more.

Physics, as mentioned, are arcadey but do the job well enough. I would've liked the cars to tumble a bit more like in GTAIV or V, but with dirt etc. actually making a difference (see killertomates realistic driving mod for GTAIV/V for comparison, that dude is a godsend)

1. How would TRACK safety prevent parts getting loose from the car ahead of you and smashing your head, retard?
2. How would you tether literally hundreds of parts, retard?
3. The majority of "F1 fans" are opposed to covering cockpits
4. Track safety is already ruining a lot of tracks.
>>
>>15228561
Not him, but I think the T safety bar is retarded because it only protects against very specific kind of shit, it's not really that great.
It wouldn't have prevented Massa's accident for example.
I hope it's only an in-between while we get full canopy or another kind of solution.
>>
>>15228600
>it only protects against very specific kind of shit
Yeah, the kind that kills people.
>>
>>15228600
I just said his arguments were retarded.
I also think that you should either deal with the risks of open cockpit, or close it up properly, not some half assed compromise
>>
>>15228619
Any kind of flying rubble small enough (of which there are many inside an F1 car) can go through it, or just something pointy enough, like an open barrier pole can poke through it no problem.
But you're right though, it's better than nothing, especially taking into account that one accident in... GP3? with the flying wheel.
>>
If you want to race a closed cockpit go to LMP1

>B B But Justin Wilson
Was sad but at the end of the day thats motorsport, there will always be a risk.

I pray to god these faggots never come for the TT.
>>
>>15228695
What can be done to make TT safe besides outright cancelling it?
I doubt something will happen, does the FIA even have anything to do with it?
>>
>>15228695
I don't give a shit either way about it but to suggest the halo hasn't been logically engineered to make the most difference in the most important situations is bullshit. The whole purpose of the thing is to have the strength to actually deflect the most dangerous objects which a conventional windscreen couldn't.
>>
>>15228765
>The whole purpose of the thing
is to please the FIA about public perception of safety in motorsports
Otherwise we wouldn't be racing with that shit, we would already be at closed cockpit or outright RC cars instead.
The reason it's a halo is because 2017 cars were already on it's way in the design floor and going full on closed cockpits would be fuck up the design flow towards 2017.
>>
>>15228765
>that thong can protect you from something a fully enclosed cockpit or the aeroscreen® can't
Kay bb
>>
They should just use the halo shit with CrimSafeâ„¢ flyscreen mesh filling the gaps

Because if it's not CrimSafeâ„¢, it's not crim safe.
>>
>>15228798
>we would already be at closed cockpit
There is no practical closed design for an F1 size cockpit and full size RC racing isn't even viable with current technology.

>>15228816
>a thing that actually exists can protect you from things that unfinished concepts can't
WOW

They want a full screen but it's not actually a thing yet aside from mockups.
>>
>>15228845
There is a practical closed design, but it's not a "drop in" feature, since you need to redo the car around it like basically most things in the car.

Reason we don't have one is that it takes years for a design to come to the tarmac, this generation of cars wasn't designed in 2013 for example... it had already started waaaay back when the new engine proposal started.
So a closed cockpit won't happen naturally unless:
1. mandatory
2. there's an agreed timeframe to implement it
>>
>>15228841
They should just do sim racing instead

MEANWHILE IN RFACTOR 2

>StaticDiffusiveAdhesion=(<halftime>,<pressure>,<cu rve>)
>SlidingDiffusiveAdhesion=(<halftime>,<pressure>,<c urve>)

The description for which, as given by our coder:

><halftime>=Diffusive adhesion gains force on an asymptotic curve, so this defines the time at which we've achieved 50% of the maximum. You can make it effectively instant by using 0.0.

><pressure>=The maximum adhesive force per unit area.

><curve>=A value from 0.0-1.0 that says whether the maximum force is affected by the appropriate curve (StaticCurve or SlidingAdhesionCurve). 0.0=no effect, meaning it is always using the maximum force, 1.0=full effect, so maximum force only happens at optimum temperature (and sliding speed, in the case of sliding)

>think: nah, Kunos are stupid sometimes but they're not THAT stupid

Supposedly, it's because of there being many ripped or otherwise illegal mods. I've only ever seen 1 (maybe 2) threads in the tracks or cars subforums that were about such mods (which is basically nothing compared to how many threads exist), and very few posts that talked about them, which were quickly reported eventhough they almost never had a link posted (when it did, it was removed very quickly)

Well, atleast I now have absolutely no reason to ever visit the forum again, since these subforums were the only reason I went there in the first place (and probably for many other people too)

Now, let's see 12481904890 different new AC modding forums popping up and the content being spread over all these different forums.

Thanks Kunos, for killing AC mods

iirc some of the cars in the roster were originally mods(quattro and miura afaik).
BTW, what mods are they killing? Early stuff(3D model in progress etc), or even beta/finished ones?
>>
>>15232108
>iirc some of the cars in the roster were originally mods(quattro and miura afaik).
The Audi Quattro, Lamborghini Countach and Nissan Skyline R34 are all cars that started as mods. Also, the Zandvoort track was a mod before Kunos took it over

>BTW, what mods are they killing? Early stuff(3D model in progress etc), or even beta/finished ones?

They're killing the whole subforums. So everything.

>tfw now I will never know when the Porsche 962, Toyota GT-One, BMW CSL, Honda S800 and all the late 90s BTCC mods * get released

Now I read the statement again and atleast they will keep their modding tutorials on there and keep the modding forums as a forum where they can ask questions or discuss mods but it still makes no sense, seeing how links to mods will be forbidden on there

How the modding forums will look like in the future:
>dude! sick looking mod, where do I get it?
>I can't tell you

>I can't download that mod anymore, the links I find when googling it are all dead. Can someone reupload it?

Kunos are now claiming that they never intended the modding forums as a showcase for artist's work. Despite the "MODEL", "WIP", and "RELEASED" tags being there for years. They are claiming that the moderation needed to weed out ripped mods was "increasing massively" when I can't even remember the last time a ripped mod was found out there. Maybe the Dorsch pay mod seven months ago? Their moderator didn't even have to do anything, since the members themselves always civilly asked for 3d wireframes to compare with. Lock and ban when it becomes obvious every few weeks at most. How hard is that?

They had the most active modding platform and modding forum in simracing, and now they are referring to the backlash to this retarded decision as laughable rants, and to most modder's motivation as "ego".

PRC have been embarrassing themselves for months thanks to James shitting his pants constantly, but now the article writes itself. For the first time Kunos deserve all of it.

Yeah, this is bullcrap. They might backpedal on it and claim "miscommunication between administrators", but it might be too late for that, or it's an order from the higher ups(505) and they can't do anything about and keep silent.
One of the good(if not great) things AC has is how easy it is to use mods. It's just drag and drop. No installations, no multiple installations and all that. You just paste it and you are good to go. And yes, I remember people putting ripped cars in the forum(usually from forza 4) and people within a few responds already knew it was ripped content and requested a lock on the thread. Meanwhile, people were happily talking and showing their progress from scratch(NSX, quattro, NA MX-5 etc), while others responded positively to them. It's really a shame they want to kill that.

Can you not please? The first couple of times it was funny, but after that it got annoying.

Also I will be changing The points system a bit. First place gets 20 and second takes 15, instead of 18. After second it goes down by one up to 15th, and after that it's 1 point. It should give people who win more of an edge, and I might not have to deal with the backlash of winning my own series.

Other than that, the last race will be a 20 minute NIGHT BATTLE at okayama. It will require a splash and dash, even with the 57 liter tank, so that might spice things up a bit. Also if the numbers go down this week, we will stay at the 6 round format, instead of extending it a bit.
