Biggest issue imo is not the "seriousness" but rather lack of consistent server place, and lack of a common platform to fuck around.
AC has shit netcode, rF is old and relies on mods which might or not work with all, not everyone has iRacing sub, etc.

SuperGT has a miku car and a squid girl car, some semi-pro GT3 series in Europe has a fucking marijuana viper, plenty real life professional racing liveries are really badly done too, nearly on the order of MSPaint skins, and if we're talking dirt/clay oval racing... hoo boy. I play on Xbone so I can't speak for FM6: Apex.
It's fun and satisfying to play, but at times the physics are not all that realistic.
It has an actual community as well so that's a plus.
T10 seems to be moving away from focusing on monthly car packs and more toward large expansions with a bunch of cars and a track.
Though admittedly I'm still not sold on the NASCAR expansion, mostly because Homestead (the new track) is oval-only.
But, it has Daytona, unlike FM4.
Guys I think I'll start shilling iRacing because the quality of the last races I was in was over the top.

I am not saying you can't drift in AC, but destabilizing the car in that game is much harder for me for some reason.

I tried on and off for years to run it, but it was always slow as molasses. So a few days ago I tried the latest wip build and its running smooth at 1080p resolution. Theres also a nice custom shader out there that brightens up the colors.

About the CPU, I'm not the same anon but I can run GT4 with 3xNative resoultion at the full framerate w/o problem with an i5-6400. If you don't need the upscaled resolution, you could probably run it on something less powerful.
And keep in mind to adjust the EE Cyclerate to 0, since it's at -1 at default and that slows down the game quite a lot.

Watch the drift bible on youtube. The biggest help for a beginner in drifting is downloading skidpad track mod, driving around the different sized circles and applying throttle/brake to see what happens. You'll learn in no time.

For you guys who are emulating GT4, what controller do you use and how do you control the brake and throttle? L2/R2, digital buttons or right analog?
Atm, I bound the pedals to L/R triggers on an xbox 360 controller, using Pinnacle Profiler to make the triggers separate axis, but I'm having a problem with a large trigger deadzone I can't seem to get rid of.
I may just try to dig out an old ps2 controller and get a usb converter for that. At least I know I won't be gimping myself when trying to go for Gold times.

If I were you I'd look into getting a cpu capable of handling the wiiu and ps3 emulators currently being worked on. They're making very fast progress.

Yeah, I breezed through License Mode with AT and without many retries. Then I looked at the Gold times and couldn't believe there are actually people capable of getting that Model T with just a ps2 controller.
The Mercedes Challenge with the SLR McLaren at Nords looks to be one of the hardest missions too. Makes me wonder if that was meant for wheel players or if its actually doable with digital buttons. That gives me an idea to play the original GT or GT2 and see if the license tests are easier since they're only designed with pads in mind.

That's right, Bryce Canyon. This is the vet's way of racing
Bryce Canyon means more elevation changes than corners. But on the other hand the skill level is a tad higher. This is the key.
And then, it's delicious. This is unbeatable.
However, if you race this then there is danger that you'll be marked by some sperglord in the thread from next time on; it's a double-edged sword.

Does it bug anyone else that cars become undrivable without it in most cases. Especially if you get the tail out, not even in the super nimble and insanley balanced 458 you'll catch it when you go for a nice power slide in a corner. Retired from the /ovg/ where I was a series organizer, and an Equal Opportunity shitposter. Watching racing of almost any type (but primarily GT3) and rfactor are about the only 2 things I do to relieve stress and keep my head from exploding, so for goodness sake-there is no need to yell!
I am a red head who is married to another woman. She happens to be my crew chief, and race team "owner". The team (which has no other members...lol) is called Mentally Illest Cuntholex2016 and when I'm starting on the front row she calls me "Pole Dancer" ;)
I'm generally a mid-pack racer who tries hard to keep it clean (the racing, I mean ;P) and expect the same. If I should wreck you I will apologize. If its your bad, please consider doing the same. You do realise that Valrys only showed up around here like 2 races from the end of the original ovgt3, and that the only reason they're doing ovgt3 season 2 at all is because Starking got partway into organising it, then decided he couldn't be bothered and dumped it, leaving a large bunch (clearly 50 or so) of anons looking forward to a series that almost didn't happen.

A-am i getting better? I have not watched the full drift bible yet, i watched the different techniques part. I am just trying to master just using throttle atm and then i will go on to using the e-brake and some longer 3rd gear corners etc. Not letting off the throttle enough on the exit is still getting me sometimes. Here's a typical drift entry. Flick it to the left, let the body roll and suspension do the work, let the car rotate, once you get your angle set, hold the wheel and use the throttle to modify your line.

While I agree that I have a faster lock to lock time than a 900 deg wheel would. I somehow have doubts that having only 3 stable inputs (lock to left, right and neutral) and having a very jittery and questionable in between makes for an easy to control car.
I essentially have to compensate with speed and timing, beause the option for a precise input of just enough steer and counter steer is absent for me.
