Do people mis-match motorcycle tyres?
My rear is pretty squared off and I want to try a different tyre to what I have currently, however my front still has plenty of tread left and I'm not a fan of wasting money.
Why shouldn't I ride on mis-matched tyres until the front eventually wears down?

It's bad lads. It's really fucking bad.

The caliper pin is bent.
I managed to realign it with a rubber mallet but the thing is still loose.
Braking power is cut in half.

It's needs a whole new caliper. Then it would need bleeding.
I'm fucked. I'm double fucked.

My only way out is to feign ignorance, hope the mechanic doesn't notice it and lends it out to somebody else.
Once it's been in someone elses hands, they can't pin it on me.

Well my bike was written off (because of a cracked mudguard). I've got this one, courtesy of the guy who hit me, until they sort the paper work out and I get my settlement.

I said to my dad JUST the other day that I don't like riding a bike that isn't mine because I can't run it ragged.

Fuck.
It's a zero sum game. Best chance is hoping the guy who checks it over when collecting it doesn't spot it.

The agreement form says in giant bold letters:
>ALL DAMAGES MUST BE VERIFIED ON COLLECTION
I think that means that once they agree to take it back, it's their problem.

Depends how far from the caliper you attach the disc lock and how spirited your take off is. If the person had put it in the recommended position, right beside the caliper, it probably couldn't have happened regardless of take off speed. Unless they rolled a foot or two backwards before taking off.

be honest and upfront. tell them you have no fucking idea how it happened, but show/tell them.

then explain you're poor or whatever the issue is. (is that not the issue?)

then offer them to take the money of the cost of fixing that caliper from your settlement.

sometimes life just fucks you over man.

You might actually. They'll almost certainly find it anyway and if they think you tried to fuck with them they'll certainly try to fuck with you. If you're honest about it and apologetic they might at least be cool and work out a way for you to pay it back as you can afford it.

On a car sure. A bike you just need a wrench and your hand. Start to squeeze brake, open bleed valve, keep sqeezing and close bleeder. Release the brake and repeat. To collect the fluid some rubber hose and a soda bottle with a hole in the lid will suffice. If you put the hose submerged in fluid, even dirty you'll reduce the odds of air getting back in the line.

Anyway, the difference between a 125 and 250 is the difference between staying in the right line of the highway and veering over to the middle one once in a while
If you're not getting a single cylinder thumper 250 you might as well get a 650 because the fuel economy won't suffer

yeah I compared them later and the bore/stroke ratio comes down to.

450 SX-F

>1.498

350 SX-F

>1.530

So it's very lightly more oversquare but I think the extra revving is mainly just in the DOHC and smaller capacity more than being more oversquare.

Certainly nothing close to the 1.91 in the panigale.

I've said before that a 450 EXC was the nicest brain to rear wheel connection I've ever felt on a motorcycle but I just straight don't trust owning one still (wouldn't trust a CRF or a WR450 either 2bh)

I guess this is kind of why I'm leaning toward 2 stroke because I'll only be able to afford doing all the work on it myself so I might as well make it easier.

i figured the same thing, why i got the 300 going again instead of getting another 4 stroke, at least its cheap and easy to work on.

plus its a good 15kg lighter than my 450 was, thats always a bonus.

I just got a pair of motorcycle gloves, and I'm wondering if they're a little too small.

The finger and knuckle length seem allright, but the glove is not quite large enough to get all the way between my index finger and thumb. There is about a 4-5mm space between the highest part of the glove there and the web of my hand (when my fingers are fully extended).

should I get a size up or is that normal?

Why would we tell you not to? Groms are great little shitbikes and are a lot of fun.

Their MSRP is less than what most people give for decent used bikes.

Also dat 100+ mpg. If you're using it for a short commute to work or school it's pretty ideal, unless you're over six feet tall, then you're gonna have a bad time.

I haven't had any mechanical problems so far and the motor still feels tight and starts on the first kick. The only thing I've had to do is change the transmission oil and air filter which is about a 15 minute job.

Top end rebuilds are about $150 and bottom ends are about $300.

considering on /dbt/ you've shown no capability to learn about anything at all I highly doubt that.

I mean I gave you the benefit of the doubt when you'd only been on /dbt/ for a month that you'd eventually stop parroting other people and stop speaking with authority about bikes you've never ridden, sometimes never even seen in the flesh but we're nearly a year on from that point and it's just the same old shit.

>>

Why disassemble it?

Drop the back seats. Throw an old duvet down so you don't scratch your tank or car. Put the bike in backwards on its side. As long as most of it is inside it wont go anywhere. Tie it to a front seat to make sure. Pull your boot door down and tie it to the tow bar or something. Put part of the duvet or a pillow in place to protect the bike from the boot door.

Rock and roll.
