I should elaborate:
It's a given that 99.999999% of jobs require some interaction with people. I accept that trucking won't be any different, but the point is that the job has far less interaction than others. Plus the role involves driving a lot, to new places, with much time away from home.
I find that appealing. I love the solitude and the oneness with the road and the countryside which is comfily juxtaposed by the sudden transition to urban and then vice versa.
I know what you mean though, trucker courses sound like a fucking scam. First you need a CPC, costing money which you pay straight to HM gubment. Acquiring this first requires training which costs money, that you pay to third parties. Then you must have a fucking license test to prove you can drive cat C vehicles, the fee of which you pay to the assessing body (an arm of HM gubment). To acquire this you again need some extensive training which you pay to to a third party.
Fucking insurances and bureaucracy has inflated prices for this shit so much.

There are a LOT of fake training places out there, wanting the standard amount that they'll just make off with.
And they have no assets, so they'll just vanish when you sue to get your money back, leaving you holding the bag on the loan you got on their advisement. You've got to be 100% sure somewhere actually exists, and THEN you need to verify they've got decent teaching.
It's not like the US where you can just go to any given college and take a course you're virtually assured a loan for.
My plan is to save up and get the training paid for out of my own pocket, once I've got the motorbike I'm saving for and my car paid off. Or, at least, get the car paid off to clear my credit score.
Also, delivery vans aren't countryside driving very often. It's literally stops every 5-10 minutes, getting out, handing stuff over, getting back in, driving off again.
I work at Tesco, and get to go out with the delivery drivers every so often, either training newbies who haven't had criminal records checks done, or regular drivers with an extra-heavy route or a bad back. Sometimes you get long country rides in the sun, other times you're finding places in town and dealing with traffic and running around on foot to find places without a house number.
Beats shoving trolleys or packing boxes for a living, but you'll just have to get used to being someone's only human contact for the week.
