Im working on a better OVG Touge mod that is smaller and includes more cars from the pick list.

As a followup:
What alpha do you guys prefer on cars?
Should they be super shiny? Kinda shiny? Matte?
Basically I have a set of 1 KB files for each color. Currently they have no alpha layer so all of them appear very shiny.
It's a lot of work but perhaps I should do a 0% alpha, 50% alpha, and 100% alpha set of each skins. Considering they're only 1 KB each it's not really a big deal if there's 90 KB of color choices for each car.
Sometimes it seems the .mas file for the car overrides the alpha of the DDS skin though. Does anyone know how to solve that?

Anyways to answer your question rFactor is one of those games that has very little and very shit stock content, but more than makes up for it with the amount and quality of mod content and support available. Literally no one uses any of the stock cars that came with the game. There are no such things as open MP servers on rfactor 1, it's just private leagues that use certain mods. That is why the links for the lite versions are more important, it's because it is faster to install and download and provides you with another instance of the game if you want to keep each mod in an instance. You don't have to do this but some mods don't play nice with each other or other mods so you might end up being forced into it sooner or later.

I've just discovered that the point scale currently in operation on the doc is complete bollocks. Whether this is because I simply forgot to change it to the one I had on my test sheet or someone surreptitiously changed it to suit their own ends, I do not know. Notice how the points fall off very slowly: this results in system that rewards people simply for turning up. The scale on the left tapers off much more steeply, properly rewarding those who place highly. I'll be switching to the proposed scale in advance of Sunday's race (and applying the change retroactively) unless I'm informed of a coherent argument against it.

Implementing the proposed scale will move me down a place on the rankings. This issue caught my attention when I realised dethadder, who has three podium finishes and one DNF, was placed behind me (three mid-pack finishes and one second place) and another mid-pack driver.

For me FFB was reversed, it felt weak with normal steering across 3 different sims in a fresh install of win 7 and for some reason was extremely hard to get the wheel back to top dead center

Yeah I read above how a lot of people just get the lite, I'm too much a spaz to fully read threads start to finish so I usually scroll to the bottom, then scroll up and read in reverse then ask my question then read a bit higher and find out my question was answered.

As a followup question:
Would people have an issue with removing existing high file size skins for cars and substituting in standard color choices?
For example many cars have 1-2MB each skins for each car. You can instead use a 1 KB skin for each color and have 90 color choices with only 90KB overhead per car model.
Though this removes some of the unique skins it allows much smaller file sizes.
