http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3519536/Saudi-Arabia-planning-end-oil-age-creating-2-TRILLION-investment-fund-big-buy-Google-Apple-Microsoft.html

Saudi Arabia have declared their intention to create a 2 Trillion dollar investment fund which would give them ability to buy firms as big as Google or Microsoft, for when their oil runs out.

They appear to be unaware that the only reason governments pander to them is because the oil under their land can't be created elsewhere.
>>
We really should bomb these people.
>>
>>36164
>would give them ability to buy firms as big as Google or Microsoft
too bad neither are for sale
>>
>>36174
Even that's not enough to buy Google...
>>
>>36167
Saudi Arabia are the good guys. It's Iran that needs to be bombed.
>>
>>36164
How fast will everything they own in foreign countries be nationalized once oil is obsolote/runs out?

Do you think the desert can sustain that many camelfuckers?
>>
Since OP is a Piers Morgan disciple, here are some actual newslinks about this:

Daily reminder that while they are not banned, and they are better than Huffpo or Breitbart, there is never, EVER a good reason to post a Daily Mail link.

The middle east has no chance of running out of oil any time soon, at least not in this lifetime. The next generation might but hopefully we will have reduced our dependence on Saudi oil by then.
>>
>>36195
I disagree with this statement, and believe the opposite is true.

Why am I wrong?
>>
>>36210

You're not though, you're right
>>
>>36201
Fair point, was just being lazy.
>>
>>36201
>I discriminate information based on WHO reports it
>not based on WHAT and SOURCE

It's just information that you can see the source yourself, check it to compare and so on.
I don't understand this irrational hatred and frustration.
>>
>>36174
This. You think the executives of a company or any company like Google will sell out for a couple of trillion. They're a fucking empire. Everybody in the world knows their name. You don't just sell that much power.
>>
>>36254
What do the executives have to do with anything? It's the owners who decide whether they'll sell or not. And since most of those are investment firms, banks, etc. of course they'll sell if the price is right.
>>
>>36164
Even if they had the money, don't foreign acquisitions of us based companies need to go through some sort of government approval?
>>
>>36257
Thank you based mercantilism
>>
>>36253
Do you think The Daily Mail had even one reporter actually covering the Saudis or do you think they regurgitated someone else's reporting like Reuters or the AFP for clickbait money?

I'm pretty sure the latter is The Daily Mail's business model. That's what's wrong with them and others like them. That's why they hired a kneejerk specialist like Piers Morgan to head up their online division. Also, just because they aren't the lowest of the low among news outlets doing this doesn't excuse what they are.

All I'm saying is just that this board should set a higher standard.
>>
>>36256
even if someone were able to put together so much money to make something like that, that would be immediately blocked by the government

How many years of oil do they have left? Surely it must e close to running out soon.
>>
>>36301
Something like 50-100 years i think ?

They ARE fuckD. Get ready everybody if they were fucking crazy when they were rich, imagine when theyre poor. Theyre going to really lose their shit. Fuck those crazy fucks and fuck Germany for fucking over Greece

"American ally" doesn't translate to "good guys."
>>
>>36182

2 Trillion is many times more than enough to buy google.

If it were for sale, which it isn't.
>>
>>36392

>sell Google for 2T$$$
>emptying Saudi coffers
>38% of userbase jumps ship immediately due to Saud
>Infrastructure crumbles within a year
>Updates are worse than even Microsoft could manage
>Newer and better models pop up immediately in the US
>Rest of userbase gradually switches over
>Total collapse of ME

It's going to be great to see the sand slowly reclaim Dubai.
>>
>>36408
Not really. He's right, and I agree with him.
Don't give clicks to shitty sources, they don't deserve it when there are plenty of good ones.

>>36398
Yeah, from what I understand you're pretty much fucked if you live in SA and you're not a part of the royal family.
>>
>>36411
And in that instance I agree with you, but then he posted shitty sources himself.

If you are going to try and pretend to be some sort of beacon of truth and then you post shitrags like Forbes then you just look like an asshole.

Reuters or bust.
>>
>>36414
Let me put it this way - I was with him until:
>they are better than Huffpo or Breitbart
Saged for off topic, and because we already had a whole meta thread on this.
>>
>>36201
>durrr hurr the OP source is factually correct but I'm going to act like it isn't because I'm a retard
>>
>>36210
Because Iran calls the US the Great Satan and is a state sponsor of terrorism.
>>
>>36411
>Yeah, from what I understand you're pretty much fucked if you live in SA and you're not a part of the royal family.
I thought most of their population worked in shitty, inefficient state jobs as well as having access to all sorts of welfare. They basically get more or less a free ride in exchange for not overthrowing the royal family. If you're going to be complacent and accept the hand out from the tyrant you have to accept a little responsibility.
>>
>>36396
american trillions arent metric trillions.
>>
>>36367
"American ally" is a rather strong term. They're an ally the same way you might hand your little sibling an unplugged game controller and tell them you're playing together. Saudi Arabia might be tolerated for oil (not gonna deny it) but I'll be damned if they're good for anything else.
>>
>>36396
>>36396

ME getting shit on is worth switching to bing. I'm in.
>>
They could buy thousands of blocks of shares, spread out between 50 years. They don't need 100% to control the company, but only 51%

>2 trillion = 2 thousand billion
>>
>>36634
>Because Iran calls the US the Great Satan and is a state sponsor of terrorism.
So state sponsored terrorism is fine and good if it's from a U.S. allied country like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, or Qatar? Because they all sponsor terrorism.

This

>>36164
>Arabians to create massive sovereign wealth fund to live off when the oil runs out of
>will keep the princes in golden condoms and the rest of the country as slavish sycophants
>seek to buy overseas companies
>never heard of actually attempting to create value at home

This is their real problem: we have oil; we don't know how to do anything other than sit around on our lazy asses and be rich
>>
>>36164
>2 Trillion dollar investment fund

That should buy a lot of suicide bomber vests
>>
>>36703

the U.S. sponsored terror for a while
>>
>>36427
The OP source is a clickbait rehasher of other people's work you dumb fuck.
>>
>>36407
No they really are better than Breitbart. At least they don't actively get involved in political campaigns like Breitbart does.

>>36409
I was posting those as examples of what NOT to do, genius.
>>
>>36750
>At least they don't actively get involved in political campaigns like Breitbart does.

Or let their journalists get beaten up by Trump's gestapo
>>
>>36760
It's even worse than most people think. The same hedge-fund billionaire who funds Ted Cruz's superPAC is the same man who is bankrolling Breitbart.

http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/11/22/why-breitbart-website-is-fundraising-for-ted-cruz/#more-108891

As the article points out, that's like if The Clinton Foundation bankrolled The New York Times.
But apparently nobody cares all that much.
>>
>>36766

that's truly disgraceful. Hilarious if it wasn't so... serious... I mean, why was that site started -- independent right-wing views

No wonder his mate says Breitbart'd be rolling in his grave
>>
>>36766
Cruz won't win the nomination no matter how much money and how many news websites he has in his mate's pocket

Still... pathetic
>>
>>36742
this, all the cool things this oil money could fund, huge universities, top tier research facilities with the very best scientists, massive projects to make their desert more livable and so on and what do they use it for, gold coating fucking everything, building huge penis extensions that will never even cover their running costs and pacifying their people like sheep, while the actual work is done by plebs from India/Pakistan and educated Westerners/Chinese.
>>
>>36773

Yep, exactly. It's pretty pathetic
>>
>>36703
>>36741
>>36745
Not only is that true but I'd go further and say the terrorists the Saudis and other GCC countries fund are even worse than the ones the Iranians fund. I was just throwing out the the out of context talking points for some reason.
>>
>>36773
>>36788
It is pathetic but in their defense I would say the problem runs even deeper than their greed and ineptitude. I think some of their politics are just the result of their culture. And honestly I find its a fascinating house of cards they've been able to balance for so long. They seem so much more backwards than even some of their fellow Arabs(Egypt, Iraq, Syria) but they've been better at avoiding instability in a Western and increasingly globalized world. They didn't have to modernize much at all but instead just aligned their interests with ours despite the obvious inconsistency with our core ideologies.

Virtually every Saudi citizen works in the bloated public sector to make sure they have a steady wage and back it up with just enough welfare. If things get heated, they simply throw more money and benefits and welfare their. Its the ultimate welfare state built on oil money and reserved for only a small percentage of the people living there. Everyone else is either among the vast foreign workers, both low skill and high skill) who recycle every few years or maybe the very small percentage of foreigners who have extended experience and ties with the royal family or other high ranking members(Bush family). I don't think it'll last another 75 years but up until now they've effectively been able to avoid or cool down any potential threats other countries in the region have faced(Coups, civil wars).

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/27/science/intolerable-heat-may-hit-the-middle-east-by-the-end-of-the-century.html?_r=0

Saudi Arabia will not exist without oil. If the climate models are right, and especially if oil runs out, the state will revert to uninhabitable wasteland.
