Trigger warnings!
>>
I live there too. Something like that is no suprise in the center of the Bible Belt.
>>
>>29633
If only they'd put a disclaimer in all of them telling the students how they get revised with different facts every 10 years.
>>
>>29640
It's pretty funny isn't it? The christfags have been putting trigger warnings on shit since the 90's, now the people who continually fought against that shit are now supporting it through different wording. It's just like all the "pro-black" callegefags who are all for segregation all of a sudden, as long as we call them "safe spaces".
>>
>>29723
Ironically, it's not ironic.
>>
>>29633
Who gives a shit whether people believe in evolution or not?
>>
>>29775
I do, because evolution is literally a fact.
>>
>>29775
It's not about that, it's about using a government money to sponsor a religion and that violates the first amendment. I'm assuming you are not from USA because this is a huge problem across the country, especially in the south. People from extreme sects of Christianity, that mainly focus on proselytizing to the unbelievers, are the main group of people trying to spread their variation of belief and they view evolution as a threat to their ideology. Even teaching it is frowned upon in these communities and if they could get away with removing it all together to replace it with Religious creation views, they would.

Removing it is the first step. Unfortunately to them, they are going against testable theories and the constitution, so they are basically reduced to trying to discredit it. As long as we have intelligent people that can question themselves, we should be alright in 'Murica.
>>
>>29691
Meh, I live in MS. It's no surprise here either. The kids will either grow out of it or become retarded trailer park white trash hurr durring the Bible.

The constitution does anyone remember what that stands for? Why did we even leave religious persecution if we are just bringing it back?
>>
>>29815
One of America's building factors was the separation of church and state.
>>
>>29723
Not that guy but trigger warnings have existed since the beginning of time.
Like when you watch tv and the contents are rated. It gives you warnings of sex, violence, excessive crusing, etc.
Or in news when dead bodies are censored or when curse words are censored.
>>
>>29815
>Why did we even leave religious persecution if we are just bringing it back?
Bitch please no one's getting persecuted for not believing in evolution.
They may look fucking stupid and be criticized for being stupid.
Get that persecution complex out of here.
>>
>>29808
This is not an atheism thing, sonny.

Science and religion are actually not at all incompatible, unless you're a right-wing nutjob.
>>
Man does not have races, it is made up. We are Homo Sapiens variety caucasian, mongoliod, negroid, or australoid. You would never say Persian Cat Race????

>>
Lmao, and they still think merica is a first world country
>>
>>29780
Science can only build and falsify models. It can never establish facts.
>>
>>29832
Christianity is incompatible with science though, along with the rest of the sandnigger religions. Maybe deism isn't incompatible.
>>
>>29847
Of course, accepting deism is incompatible with the scientific method. But accepting it doesn't clash with well-established scientific theories.
>>
>>29835
>Argues arbitrary

claps/10

What separates different species is just as arbitrary as what sounds we make when uttering "Derp" or the words we use to describe a perfectly round object, sphere.
>>
>>29847
It's only incompatible with science if you take your religious texts literally like the bible thumping trailer trash living in the bible belt.
>>
>>29847
Isn't science only theories and not actually proven, and being Roman Catholic I can honestly say in my opinion half of the bible was stories to help give man a moral compass as well as explanations of the unknown.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-scientific-fundamentalist/200811/common-misconceptions-about-science-i-scientific-proof
>>
>>29855
If you don't take them literally, you might as well throw them into the trash.
>>
lmao atheists backpedalling when the image is parallel to evolutionary theory
>>
>>29862
I clarified here
>>29848
>>
>>29862
A theory in science is something that is backed up by evidence and/or repeatable evidence. Its not just some idea a bloke had that people just accept. You have to prove it

Very few things in science ever go on to be "laws of nature"

Evolution as it is is backed up by an obscene amount of evidence and information. If something came along and disproved it, science would change its tune completely, though with the sheer amount of other discoveries predicated on evolution being a thing I can't really see that happening.

>>29633
Here in Britain we literally put Darwin on our money. Not saying we're more enlightened or what have you, just interests me how differing an opinion two nations can have

now I can see why Donald will probly do well at this charade America calls an election... thanks for clarifying that.

Darwin fucked his cousin. Now his whole family is inbred and physically and mentally dysfunctional.

I know, people accusing bible thumpers from the middle of the United States to be inbred too though.

Do you also read porno mags for marriage counselling?
>>
>>29901
The inbred insult being a literal and metaphorical way to say much thought doesn't get put into decision making.

The offspring suffers from a non diverse gene-pool and from the parents not being able to expose their spawn to different life experiences or new outside information since there was a shared life growing up. The children of inbreds suffers twofold.
>>
>>29878
>If you don't take them literally, you might as well throw them into the trash.
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA

Morals and ethics can be taught without being literal, and is that not what the bible is? Stories of God and his wonders, filled with lessons on morals and ethics? Does it really matter if the binding of Issac really happened, word for word? The lesson is still there, regardless of whether it was truth or fiction. I mean, what the fuck do you think the book of Wisdom is? It's all just Jews writing fables and stories. Like, for example, when ever Wisdom is personified, you cannot take that literally. You just can't. She is a fable. A form of literature that is not to be taken literally yet can still guide the reader with truths and morals.
>>
>>29954
>lessons on morals and ethics
If that's what you think the bible is then either you've never read it or you're flat-out evil
>>
>>29958
Opinion fucking discarded, appeal to a fictional authority elsewhere

Liberalism again proven to be an offshoot of Christianity
>>
>>29989
Really because the bible belt is made up of republican conservatives not democratic literalis.
>>
>>29954
Stories of God and his wonders...

Like demolishing cities? Wanting a person to hold his hands in the air to appease the lord almighty so that his army might win the war? Telling a man to kill his child and then go "Just kidding, here's a sheep"? Forcing a Pharaoh against his will to defy the lord himself to bring suffering upon him and the people he rules over just because god wanted to prove a point about letting the slaves go and pray? Punishing all of man kind for one woman eating a fruit that she was 'tricked' into eating even though it was inevitably going to happen, the fruit of knowledge.

What is the moral of keeping knowledge from people? or does the Old testament not count... I haven't read that far into the new testament but I'm sure you have heard of Jesus's praise of the old books. Confirming a salty wife and a brotherly feud. Even when I believed the fiction as fact, I could not draw any morals or ethics from such a petty being, and the stories I was fed were sanitized. To actually find out that Pharaoh was manipulated against his will was a huge surprise to me.

I'm not you buddy, guy!

You can't describe something you know nothing about, therefor you can't understand you know nothing about. I know you know nothing about it because you argue faith. A belief without evidence or proof, Yet people think something exists, something that they can't point to, relate to, see, hear, touch, smell, taste, feel, describe or abstract about.

20/20 is hindsight. It's better to make decisions based on what you know rather than a promise that is impossible to prove. People who fall for the invisible carrot on a stick are easily led off a cliff even if they were next to a bridge.

>It can never establish facts.
But that's wrong.
Science can uncover facts. It's what we interpret them as, which can be falsified.

We have found patterns in DNA of living creatures that match all of life, and can create trees of ancestry. We can observe DNA change over a long period of time on the same species which create distinct species. That's a fact.

We believe that every species started from one or more common ancestors and that species begin to diverge from one another based on their living conditions, food, predators, and other factors over time. This is an interpretation of the data, and is a scientific theory.

Quite honestly are scientific reasoning still hasn't taken us beyond the boundaries of the solar system so I can honestly say what the fuck is out there. and if proven their are other beings out their who's to say during the birth of the human race they where not God and the Angels. These are names that we as humans us to identify quite frankly and being far more advanced then us. Science tells us there are multiple dimensions, solar systems, galaxies ever heard of string theory. So until there is definitive prof by scientific theory that their is truly no being higher then myself I will choose to believe in a God.

You can build theories, falsify them, and come up with better ones but you can never prove anything like in logic or mathematics.
>>
>>30085
System of a Down is edgy metal for middle schoolers. I used to listen to them in middle school myself, actually. For good grown-up metal listen to Opeth, Vektor, Enslaved, Leprous or just some good old Black Sabbath.
>>
>>30104
An act of god, from the movie, is an impossible thing happening that is suddenly possible. Unfortunately that means that past societies would have witnessed our technology, products of science, as an act of god, so we are God compared to our ancestors and our offspring will be God to us. That also means we are God to those who don't use technology.

It would be better to say that the impossible thing remains impossible, thus leaving God in the equation. Once it becomes possible, it no longer stays in the realm of a miracle, as it is not inexplainable, and becomes replicable by man.

That's a movie, a fictional story that can play out any way the creators desired. Don't you have any better arguments or evidence besides songs about feelings and movies with fictional narrative, because this is sad. Would a movie about Vampires be evidence that vampires exist or mean that vampires once existed?

PROF THROUGH SCIENCE THAT A GOD CAN EXIST, WE DON'T EVEN KNOW IF WE WHERE THE FIRST ONES TO EXIST. ACTUALLY THE DINOSAURS PROVE WE WEREN'T AND IF MAN CAN CREATE LIFE ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, GENETICS, AND CLONING WE ARE ARE MADE IN THE "LIKENESS OF OUR GOD". So you are someone who is pissed off that we don't have a definitive answer to whether or not there is a god or supernatural being.

Again, I will say it is better to go with what you know rather than a unsubstantiated claim you can't prove.

You will end up in a bad situation following false promises. Scam artists prey on people who beg the question too many times. At least the fervently religious are partially guarded against such foolery because they tend to be so close minded.

>>
>>31279
You're a fucking layman and don't know what you're talking about. A "theory" is literally the GREATEST tier achievable in the scientific community.
>>
>>31304
"Theory is a contemplative and rational type of abstract or generalizing thinking, or the results of such thinking. Depending on the context, the results might for example include generalized explanations of how nature works."

A "theory" is about as reliable and carries about much weight as the source from which I obtained the definition

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory
>>
>>31304
Just because I'm confused on this, there is no such thing as 'fact' in science?
>>
>>31943
You can't be this retarded, please tell me this is bait.

>A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the scientific method and repeatedly tested and confirmed through observation and experimentation. Scientific theories are the most reliable, rigorous, and comprehensive form of scientific knowledge.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_theory

>>32155
> there is no such thing as 'fact' in science?
Sure there is. Descent with modification and the emergence of new species ARE facts. Evolution IS a fact, even if it's not one that can be easily observed like gravity, for example.
>>
>>29832
>Science and religion are actually not at all incompatible
But they are. Religion and reason just don't mix

I don't mind it as long as the doubt portion of the book doesn't include a Bible passage/Reference. It would be cool to start having kids questioning modern day theories, it's no fun if everyone agrees on the same thing.
