From what i hear, the swedish rail network is a joke. The least bit of snowfall south of Gävle disrupts the whole network.

high speed rail sorta an ongoing, multibillion dollar joke here.
Freight rail is pretty cool, but the Northeast Corridor is about as good as it gets for passenger rail. And that's practically 70's era
I like the old Cityrail trains of Sydney. They looked so used and utilitarian. And our freight diesels are greasy and loud and awesome.
I've never had any particular trouble with them. Seems to be a joke here that "ha cityrail is always late and shit" but I only ever really have any trouble if there is linework. Which they can't really help having to do.
