I haven't ridden a bike since I was 14 and I just bought one of these for $850.
How badly did I fuck up?
>>891011
majorly take it back and get a proper bike.
as you can get a great bike for $850, that one is a rip off.
What the fuck is that?
Very badly
What made you think this was a good idea? Why a folding mountain bike? Why not just a regular?
>>891011
Do you jump out of airplanes with your bike ?
>>891011
pretty bad tbh
why do you need a folding bike? are you that cramped for space? do you need a bike to fit in a suitcase so you can make cartoonish escapes
>>891011
is this a joke?
my first bike was a folding bike. The rest of the world sells them for cheap. In the US it seems to be a new thing, so they're inflating the price real bad
>>891011
good for secret agents, eco-terrorists, and maybe businessmen in the lumber industry but I cant think of many uses for a folding mountain bike.
traveling with your bike
very popular with people that tend to travel a lot

Do you not?
Assuming you actually need this special feature, you did not fuck up at all. That's just what they cost. Cargo, fat, dutch, tandem, recumbent, handi-adapted, and other low-volume specialties are all pretty pricy. But if you don't keep it in a tiny apartment or take it inside another vehicle, then ya maybe.
maybe have gotten a basic bike to get back into the saddle and practice first?
do you even know how to change gears lel?
but really that or the brompton is your best choices for folding
and the bromptons not good outside a city with its tiny wheels
Less than half the price.

>half the price
>half the looks

Better get yourself that fixie soon, my friend.
Bike showed up today.
Shit is pretty damn cool, I'd regret it if I didn't have disposable income.
I don't really understand /n/'s hatred of folders.
I don't have any use for one personally, but if I rode a lot of commuter trains, or if my office didn't let me park my bike in the hallway, I'd totally get one.
Some relatives of mine who are Very Serious Cyclists have folders for certain types of touring. Their "beater" bikes are worth more than my "nice" bike.

it's called a lock
>>891935
What does that even mean?
>>891942
it means you can bring a large bike into a train if you have a lock
I got a $100 knockoff 10'' Citizen Tokyo to avoid ferry bike charges. Worth every cent.
>tfw everyone looks at you flat beasting it a 6 mph in 6th gear.

Depends on where you live. Where I live, you are not allowed to carry a bike during rush hours, unless it is folded. In other trains, you have to pay €3.50 for your bike (unless it's folded), which would be around 1500€ a year. In an ICE, only folded bikes are allowed.
Buying a foldable bike is pretty reasonable in some cases.

You have no idea what you're talking about

pics and a review for us?
I am a trucker and need to get a bike.
There's not all that much I can say that someone hasn't already, really.
Pros:
>looks snazzy
>rugged as fuck
>folds in half
Cons:
>doesn't come with a kickstand, gib $40 more goy :^)
>pedals don't fold, gib $40 more goy :^)
>seat is uncomfortable
>like god damn, my ass really hurts
>expensive for what it is

I also wish the velcro strap they give you was a lot longer so that you could run it through both wheels and the frame, to really tie it together. Instead of just one wheel and the handlebar.
Also it weighs almost 30lb. So keep that in mind.
>>892109
Looks alright. I hope that saddle height is for folding purposes only, otherwise it's way too low (unless you're like 5'4")
>>891011
are you in chico, ca
Just got this. 1968 schwinn run-a-bout. Doesn't even fold all the way. Still fun though
>>892131
is...is that collectible?
>>892137
somewhat
Any similar foldable and more affordable foldable mountain bikes out these, that montague looks sexy but holy fuck that price.
interested in a foldable so i can take it camping and train, noticed japs are heaps into the foldables nowadays.
>>891011
I'm a fan.
Where I travel, bikes are only allowed on trains if they are folded and bagged. Most MTBs wouldn't fold small enough to be bagged and still fit in the bag compartments but that one looks like it might.
Coaches here will usually take any bikes but I've had some refuse mine until I folded it and then they're like "oh ok, THOSE are allowed"

I should add that except for pic related and some roads in a ghost city that I might post a thread about, the roads mostly suck here so an MTB is more sensible most of the time, even for urban riding.
I've replaced three tubes due to pinch flats from not dodging various holes and gaps between pavement tiles and other random poor design or maintenance. I've also had to retrue the wheels a few times from similar stuff. An MTB might have been ok with all of that stuff.
