Any of The Cure, Radiohead after Kid A, most PF albums, like every Beatles album all the way through, ITCOKC. Way more I can't think of obviously cuz I haven't listened to them... duh

I've never listened to a Beatles record. I've heard Eleanor Rigby and Revolution 9 which were nice songs but never a full album.

How the hell have you not listen to The Beatles most famous albums?
What's preventing you from listening to 30-40 minutes?
>>
>>66497665

>The Cure

Listen to Disintegration and Pornography. Maybe Faith. Keep going if you want to hear more or stop there, it doesn't really matter after that.

>>66497542

Sister, arguably. I think EVOL is a bit too formative. Still a great record and all but they're clearly moving from one songwriting approach to another and songs like Star Power and Green Light just aren't as good as your average DN tune. Still, it does have its odder tracks like Secret Girl and In The Kingdom #19 in its favor.
>>
>>66497780

I've never been arsed. That's all there is to it.
>>
>>66497768
I'm on /mu/ because I like listening to, discussing and finding music. No thank you.

>>66497780
A little bit uninterested, a little bit I just see myself enjoying other albums more, and of course a little bit of good ol' contrarianism. What I meant by "all the way through" is that I've heard tons of songs, just haven't listened to a full album front to back of them.

>>66497806
Yeah I really feel like I should've listened to the Cure's essentials by now because I'm much more into darker, post-punky stuff like that than things like classic prog or psych rock records.

>>
>>66497880

If you're into darker post-punk then Pornography is required listening. Seriously, get on that ASAP. Disintegration is obviously a highlight as well but with that added bit of info I definitely recommend Seventeen Seconds and Faith, and maybe even Bloodflowers. Everything else they've done has more of a psych pop flavor to it, though if you're cool with a sort of loose cross between the two styles then both The Top and Wish fit quite neatly into that mold. The Top is definitely a trip though so be warned on that one, there's some numbers on it that are unlike anything else the band has ever done.
>>
>>66497686
Fire up The Money Store anon, its quite a ride your first time through.
>>
>>66497984

DN was my first SY album and the first time I listened to it it was basically 70 minutes of guitar noise. I appreciate the album now of course but I'd say it helps to have a handle on the band's output before it to really get why it's excellent. It doesn't speak for itself in the sense that the band's songwriting finally caught up with their raw talent but that becomes clear in the grand scheme of their musical progression; DN marks the point where the band finally sounds as promising and mature as their talent always suggested they could be.
>>
>>66497984
>3 of those posts are mine
I've listened closely and I do like plenty of the details, but it is really not as great as they say. A fine album, but their previous few were better.

David Bowie's acclaimed 70's output.

>>
>>66498413

I haven't heard any Bowie aside from Blackstar.
>>
>>66498146
But their previous albums are nowhere near as well detailed. You can make an argument that you enjoy their first two more because you prefer that style, but as good as EVOL and Sister are, they have nothing on DN.
>>
>>66498448
>you prefer that style
It's due to this, I prefer their darker sound. I like things such as the second half of Silver Rocket and all of Cross the Breeze, but the main sound of DN wore off really quickly for me. EVOL is filled with detail as well, but people for some reason don't notice.

Illinois has some great songs and so does Carrie and Lowell but i'm sure u know that idk
>>
>>66498590
Do you have any regrets?
>>
>>66498476

I can respect that. My top 2 SY albums are Daydream Nation and Confusion Is Sex, and the latter gets by for me on its mood. DN is far more polished but CIS just has this incredible sense of dread and malice to it while not being as dreary as BMR.
>>
>>66498566
I never got into The Beatles until a year or so ago, and I binged fucking hard on them for a few months. Abbey Road is an absolute essential at the very least.

Also, OK Computer was one of the best first-listen album experiences I've ever had

The first Radiohead album I listened to was Kid A, and I thought it was extremely boring. A few months later I sat down and listened to OKC with my full attention and it blew me away. After that I came to love Kid A and their other albums as well. Obviously you don't have to like it, but it's worth another shot
>>
Basically anything that came out before I was born. I'm 20.

So no beatles, rolling stones, pink floyd, no sonic youth, no bob dylan, no doors, no Bowie, no My Bloody Valentine, no Led Zeppelin, no Hendrix, no King Crimson

Also no swans.

In fact, the only artists I have really listened to that people post on here are St Vincent, Chvrches, Grimes, and animal collective.

>Anything from sufjan
Illinois, if you don't like it try Michigan

>The antlers - hospice
I didn't listen to it for a long time because I didn't like the beginning. I regret that now.

>Swans - the seer
overrated on this board but a good album i like it a lot listen to it when you have 2 hours to burn

>Madvilliany
If you don't like rap a lot you probably won't like this at all.

>Anything by pink floyd exempt wish you were here (I downloaded animals, dark side of the moon and piper at the gates of dawn tho and I will eventually)
Besides dark side, piper and atom heart mother there's not much in the floyd category worthy of being saved

>On avery island
It's like ITAOTS but more fun

>Trout mask replica (or anything by the captain beefheart magic band)
Save yourself the 80 minutes and beat your head against the wall to get a headache instead
>>

Can you specify why you gave up on Paranoid Android?
>>
Anthing by Sufjan
Anything by NIN

I Love You Golden Blue is the best SY track.
>>
The Beatles, Beach Boys, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, pretty much most things you can call "classic rock".

It just all seems so bland to me.
>>
>>66497389
Every sound in it had already been done in the 60s and even then it was done better. What is it with rockists and complete lack of understanding of their own history?

the old /mu/ essentials are so outdated, but here.

Spent very little time with The Who, Bob Dylan or Rolling Stones.
>>
>>66498885

>Post-OKC Radiohead
>classic rock

I mean, the material that follows still doesn't have much of a pulse overall but Radiohead hasn't sounded like "classic rock" in over 15 years. The closest you'll get to that is maybe Hail to the Thief's singles.
>>
>>66499067
Yeah, I know Radiohead isn't classic rock, I just felt I had to include them as well. And I haven't listened to them for the same reason.
>>
>>66498595
Recommending Spiderland if you like nirvana or post hardcore or math rock you might like it (and it's 6 tracks dont be a pusscake)

Purple Rain only has 3 good songs but theyre goat af 80's pop

Ys is relaxing as fuck, boring to some tho
