Honestly, I got this book when I was a child. I think they call it an adult course so adults don't feel bad learning it. Honestly, there is no shame in education.

theory is harder to strictly teach yourself through a book, you'd be better off trying to finish any of the online music theory websites that have 100s of activities that will teach you theory.
strictly for piano, the alfred books already mentioned are good, i personally also like hanon's the virtuoso pianist book.
i just learned my favorite video game songs and i got pretty good
