Thoughts on Calvin Harris?
I hated him back in 2007 when he first came about but I've since come to love him
His whole discography is actually really strong. He's just got a natural talent for making really catchy dance songs. I used to produce dance songs and I wish I had the sort of talent he does.

Well I disagree. Deadmau5 is pretty shit 2bh. Skrillex is okay but some of that old stuff is just too fucking edgy for me now. Jack Ü has a couple of good songs though. Diplo is getting better, Lean On was very good, but I've never heard anything else that good by him. Actually some of the older Major Lazer stuff was alright too I guess

Nah Ready for the weekend is easily the best Calvin Harris album. Every song sounds the same on I created disco.
Acceptable in the 80's is an absolute tune though.

I mean his songs are pretty catchy, he works well with other artists, and I always hear him on Spotify when I work out. I actually really like him aside from if there were no vocals, there are a lot of songs of his that I could just barely distinguish from each other. Many of his songs sound incredibly similar. It's like a guitarist who plays the same solo in every song, or a pianist that only uses certain licks all the time. His discography is boring imo but I like a lot of his compositions as their own entity.

Listen to the bonus tracks on her last album where she shows her song-writing process. She basically sends producers voicemails with basic melody and lyrics. (See "I Know Places")
TMZ claims she did the same thing with this song, then Calvin took over, produced it and called in Rihanna to record it. He spliced Rihanna's version with Taylor's initial demo. You can clearly hear Taylor do the chorus on the final version.

He's pretty bad IMO. I'm not in to Top 40 at all but I like to give those artists a shot. But he just kinda sucks desu. He's really formulaic, makes annoying music and is a remarkably mediocre singer. Not my cup of tea

His older albums are pretty decent desu, and 18 Months is basically a collection of radio smash hits. Nearly everything he touches goes platinum somewhere. I probably like/respect him more than most mainstream "edm" artists.
