Daft Punk is far worse than EDM 2bh.
Adding a kick and sidechain to 70s funk hits requires far less skill than writing a shitty EDM track from scratch (David Guetta etc).

That is what EDM should mean yes.
However it has been bastardized by the masses to mean shit like Avicii & Tiesto or whoever else you can think of in that style of music.
So yes, they are technically electronic dance music, but not EDM which has been turned into meaning something else.
