Similar group that actually includes the motifs' songwriter.
And though not twee, I would also like to recommend:
Jens Lekman- Night Falls Over Kortedala
Dreamend- I ate myself, bite by bite
>>66329033
>>66329108
Since you mentioned twee:
The Softies - It's Love
Blueboy - If Wishes Were Horses
Flipper's Guitar - Three Cheers for Our Side
My Little Airport - Zoo is Sad, People are Cruel
Rocketship - Singles 1993-96
This is going to make people mad
Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
yeah, it was alright
>>66329124

so far
already done Night Falls over Kortedala and Rocketship Singles
>>66329289
>When I said I wanted to be your dog
Excellent choice. Why not also add:
Jessica Pratt- on your own love again
Fiona Apple- extraordinary machine
Björk- homogenic
>>66329446
I did Homogenic on the previous Algorithm chart
thought it was alright
I'll do Vespertine because that one really interests me (mostly because the video for Pagan Poetry is ahem, striking)
>>66329514

I feel like more than 2 of an artist is too much to stomach, got really sick of Sonic Youth by the end of this
Does anyone know how to do this????
I'm 90% sure the green is ground and needs to be soldered to the large back piece, and the tip of the jack is left which corresponds to the thingy closer to the camera.
What I don't know is whether the black and red wires are left or right. Headphones are ATH-M50's.
Pls halp this is holding my music hostage.
>>66329720
I didn't mean to suggest listening to all of those Björk records.
Try post, that's one of my favorites.
>>66329771

>inb4 >emo >good
>>66330223

Brand New - The Devil and God
The Hotelier - Home, Like NoPlace Is There
(in case you were wondering)
This was actually pretty difficult to find so >>66329858
can go fuck a goat.
Also green is almost always ground, so these fuckers really threw a curve ball here.
Now I just need to solder.

emo is really sensitive teenage boys who wear sweaters core, i should know, but i'll still give you some recs. and i'll stay away from screamo/post-hardcore influenced emo even tho that's my favorite kind of emo, these are all the twinkly indie emo bullshit albums!
125, Rue Montmartre - 125, rue Montmartre
American Football - American Football
Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Cap'n Jazz - Burritos... (or Analphabetapolotology)
Eldritch Anisette - Eldritch Anisette
Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) - What It Takes to Move Forward
Everyone Asked About You - Everyone Asked About You
Mineral - The Power of Failing
Mineral - EndSerenading
nouns - Still Bummed
Snowing - Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit
Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary
i really don't care too much for these, but they fit your chart well

>I just searched and apparently no one on the internet made a Donphan Vliet joke yet
Who'd've thought?
Some considerations on:
>Jacques Brel - Olympia 64
>Chanson
A live album which feels more like an EP in length, it is in fact a charming collection of Brel's classics. The lyrics explore the human soul, its controversies and sins, while Brel's delivery is glorious in its pomp, while retaining a unique melancholy in its tone. The arrangements are impressionistic, like the accordion touches on various songs, and minimal, like most of the piano interventions on the record, but they fit well with the music, which never feels sloppy or tired.
Great if you like French people.

>what did he mean by this?
he meant that brave little abacus is shit
although looking at the chart now they would definitely fit right in
>>66338705
>brave little abacus is shit
what did he mean by this?
>>66338780
He meant that in societies where modern conditions of production prevail, life is presented as an immense accumulation of spectacles. Everything that was directly lived has receded into a representation.
The images detached from every aspect of life merge into a common stream in which the unity of that life can no longer be recovered. Fragmented views of reality regroup themselves into a new unity as a separate pseudo-world that can only be looked at. The specialization of images of the world has culminated in a world of autonomized images where even the deceivers are deceived. The spectacle is a concrete inversion of life, an autonomous movement of the nonliving.
The spectacle presents itself simultaneously as society itself, as a part of society, and as a means of unification. As a part of society, it is ostensibly the focal point of all vision and all consciousness. But due to the very fact that this sector is separate, it is in reality the domain of delusion and false consciousness: the unification it achieves is nothing but an official language of universal separation.
The spectacle is not a collection of images; it is a social relation between people that is mediated by images.
The spectacle cannot be understood as a mere visual excess produced by mass-media technologies. It is a worldview that has actually been materialized, that has become an objective reality.

I wrote a song this morning
*slowly strummed blues guitar gently fade in*
Do you ever feeeeeel like a tumor toooooo the world? Like you have nothingggg to ooooffer and you'll be gone in a whirl.. Do you ever feel like a rung bell.. Do you ever feel like..
*a barrage of electric guitars come out of nowhere playing an ascending riff, pummeling the listener into a bright ecstasy*
DYYYYYYING.. Do you ever feel like.. DYYYYYING... Do you ever feel like DYYYYYYYING..
*a choir of colored boys comes in and repeats the hook while I do, taking the listener to levels of pleasure they didn't know existed*
*hook keeps repeating and slowly fades into infinity... Then...nothing..... Then the sound of a baby being born slowly comes in..a gentle lullaby starts playing.. I Hum a beautiful melody on top of this. We repeat this for three minutes then fade out into infinity again.. Then the sound of a shooting star comes in. A little boy says "look mommy! A shooting star" mother replies "no hunny that was just a dream" * * song ends*

Which are also the ones that end up wearing ill-fitting shit and look completely awful but hey, at least they're not wearing graphic tees am-am i r-right?
Especially when it's summer and you can't put much detail into your fit because it's too hot, a fresh graphic shirt is just what you need.
>>66349737
Graphic tees are nice. I wish I had more, especially of local acts. Right now I just have a Tera Melos tee but would be cool to get a beach boys tee eventually.
>>66346280
>the /fa/ rules
heh
>>66349799
>>66349737
I think the problem I have with graphic tees often is not that they're completely awful or anything as they do at times work but fuck do they usually have awful fits. So often it's just a shit tier shirt that no one would buy otherwise with the graphic plastered on so it gets sold.
>>66349845
that meme is so good. original pic was hilarious too.
>>66349888
this is right, but disregarding band tees completely is dumb. for example HTRK did a collab with a local fashion store to make some sick stuff.
>>66350035
yea but htrk is complete ass

Lukewarm Onions
Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom
Can't deny it, this is a good album, starts of slow, the first track isn't good, but the rest of it is p nice
Elliott Smith - XO
weakest release I've heard out of this guy
it wasn't bad though
>>66351773
agreed about XO, not so much about the first track of Rock Bottom but i didnt like it much at first either. It has a nice kind of cheesy synths plus the lyrics are fitting.

What would be #1 dish?
>>66352555
pizza
>>66352555
Bacon or something like that probably. Cause you know, it's overrated :^)
What would be more interesting is the avant-teen culture of RYF. Just think of all the interesting dishes people could find.
Burnt zebra child
Steamed lynx heart
Grilled zebu
Fried takin leg
Slowly dying Eurasian oystercatcher on a stick
Springbok and chips
Microwaved xoloitzcuintli nose with carp rice
Endless possibilities desu
>>66352555
Pizza
The avant-teen foods would be vegan stuff from Japan
>>66351773
XO is split about 50/50 between some of his best songs and some of his weakest stuff. You at least liked Tomorrow Tomorrow, Independence Day and Waltz #1 right?
spice onions
Red Krayola - Parable of Arable Land
y'know it'd be kind of decent if it werent for the free-form freakouts, they ruin the pace and sound awful
Cat Power - You Are Free
A wee bit mediocre, too simplistic and generic to take me anywhere interesting...
Power Corruption Lies, then what...
>>66352710
I did like them
>>66352692
>Slowly dying Eurasian oystercatcher on a stick

I disagree. Though they're not quite as subtle as his folkier, more laidback stuff they really show Smith coming to his own as a great pop songwriter.

Burger patty dipped in milk?
2 year old bag of chips?
Wet dorito?
I'm not sure how on point I am with buttfood but I'm trying.

Avant-teencore food desu. If only RYF were a thing already so I could rate them.

You are free is very generic by comparison, pix feels more inspired, has some nice dissonant instrumentation a wonderful atmosphere and the best cover of the moonshiner recorded. Fukien check it out you´ll prolly like it way more.
>>66353239
very dank, saved
thanks lori
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
whew lad, that was a mouthful
it's almost as if this is devided into chunks broken up by piano interludes, that's cool I guess
the last 5 tracks in particular are phenomenal, particularly the last one, that was the fucking bomb
XTC, then Rembrandt Pussyhores, then something else
>>66353696
>>66353630
well thanks to the Penguin guide. It's really a nice thing to listen to day after day.
XTC = Drums and Wires
the songs are a little too long, so what ends up happening is that the majority of them overstay their welcome, but yeah, overall this is a positive experience
Making Plans for Nigel and Ten Feet Tall are bangers
hot onion time
S U N B A T H E R
I quit this record after 20 minutes. As I see it, it's fundamentally flawed. Allow me to explain with a comparison- I went to see a movie once, called Krampus. Friends and I were excited because it was presented as a horror comedy. It was hot garbage. Not because horror comedy is a bad genre, but because whoever wrote Krampus apparently lacked an understanding of horror comedy. Shaun of the Dead is a classic because it's scary things happening to funny characters. Krampus failed because the characters were half comedy characters, half victims. The monsters were half scary, half trying-so-hard-to-be-funny that they weren't. The final result was a film that seemed unable to make up it's mind throughout whether it intended to make you scared or amused.
Blackgaze, like Horror Comedy, is a good fusion genre (I've heard some good stuff by Lantlôs), but like Krampus, SUNBATHER couldn't make up it's mind. To my eyes (or ears, rather), the appeal of black metal is the raw aggression, the rapid power, whereas the appeal of shoegaze is the hazy atmosphere and emotional content.
[1/2]
[2/2]
SUNBATHER lacks the whole intensity of black metal- which would be fine if they managed to balance it with the shoegazer aspects- but instead they half-assed it both regards, making the shoegaze influence almost negligible; the black metal aspects were of the most watery, store-brand variety. To fill the massive gaps that must have occurred in this hamfisted combination (yes, I mean to give the impression this was put together one piece at a time, because that's how it reads), they opted to include post rock styles (not a strictly bad idea, Lantlôs makes it work well). The result leaves me feeling like if you were to turn off a Godspeed You! Black Emperor record before the crescendo- Deafheaven seems to have little or no detectable sense of how to use their sound. It's distributed almost evenly, middling out whatever aspects of this experience weren't already squarely in the middle. The listening became almost instantly tedious for me.
It's the same as art. In art, to draw an effective human figure, you need to draw the subject's gesture- the stance of the person, the flow of their body. In the beginning, value and line are unimportant- you are capturing the energy first and foremost, and then use it as a frame for your detail. When you start a drawing with an arm, face, or any singular part of a figure, it is doomed because you have no sense of the figure as a whole, and you will likely end up with a Frankenstein's monster of a figure- incongruent limbs, attached at disjointed angles to a body whose head is the wrong size.
That's what SUNBATHER sounds like. It sounds like fan art done by people putting more emphasis on the 'fan' aspect than the 'art' aspect.
And I'm fucking tired of fan art.

Yeah I already knew a couple of songs, it's really fun stuff, but I don't think it'll work it's way in to my regular listening. The more atmospheric bits also left me a little alienated.

I do think that Charlie is way better in terms of consistency, although it's by no means perfect
man triangle that dixieland album you recced me is fucking awesome
Buggles - The Age of Plastic (1980)
>synthpop, new wave, art pop
Just going by the title I'm assuming that this overly produced, plastic, absolutely emotionless sound is their aesthetic, but unlike a group such as Kraftwerk they just do such a shitty, boring job at pulling this off. There are a few decent melodies here and there, and "Video Killed the Radio Star" is of course a pretty good song, but overall this is just a boring, bland, super '80s pop album with very hamfisted "artsy" elements. Not for me.
0.5+
Spacemen 3 - Sound of Confusion (1986)
>neo-psychedelia, space rock
Ultra primal and heavy space rock, I can dig it. When the band gets more into garage rock it loses a lot of steam, the more straight up rocky portions are kinda derivative and not very interesting to listen to, but when they let their feedbacky guitars (the guitar tone is one of the best I've ever heard, jesus christ) just take over the songs and make some badass droney, spacey soundscapes it's really nice to listen to. Just a shame about the meh Stooges pastiche moments, even thought they're certainly pretty okay.

The poseur thing strikes me as the final nail in the coffin of old /mu/, the point at which the adolescent shit-taste Reddit and Youtube comment section sensibilities finally completely overtake this board.
Musics which would have in the past been openly discussed in outside /mu/ are now completely segregated to a few general threads(including /daily/), and once these generals die out(and I'm expecting most of them to not even make it into 2017), it will be like old /mu/ never even existed.
It's been nice, bros.
>>66356837
I don't believe anyone ITT is taking the meme seriously, but yeah, it is philistinism at it's finest
>>66356877
Whether anyone ITT is taking it seriously is irrelevant and doesn't stop it from even further ghettoizing these musics and the people who wish to discuss them,

yeah, people got so mad at Long Season because everyone realised out of nowhere that it was really good, blind contrarianism really kills this board

i'm actually almost certain that the one poseurcore thread with a ton of text that keeps getting made is done by someone from /rym/ who's got a bone to pick with someone or something else and is doing it through those threads
the tone of the writing is way too self-aware and in on the joke for it to be the making of some random kid from reddit who doesn't like "hipster music", it's got /rym/'s fingerprints all over it
this board is such a bizarre shithole
The Replacements - Let it Be
couldn't vibe to this all that much, was kind of just average, didn't go to any places that I haven't been to yet in any interesting ways
props for being one of the first to do so though
Androgynous is a really good track though
Todd Rundgren - A Wizard, A True Star
