I'm looking for a certain type of music that produces a feeling of floating or weightlessness. It's kind of hard to describe, but it usually features minimal percussion, heavily reverbed vocals, and generally just a very dreamy style.
The three tracks that got me thinking about this are:
>Cocteau Twins - Pandora
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqnmC4kjDjE
>Julee Cruise - Falling
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkl0uByXPDU
>Julia Holter - Lucette Stranded on the Island
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhBhpQgN0MU
Does anyone have anything else like this? I'm trying to make a mix CD.
This album covering twin peaks music is pretty good. http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/21749-plays-the-music-of-twin-peaks/

I'm assuming you have listened to the rest of Julee Cruise's music like I Float Alone?
Might not be reverbed enough but some Slapp Happy has that ethereal quality

Floating into the night is 10/10 album.
As a huge Julee Cruise fan I found Marissa Nadler's Strangers "somehow" similar to the 60s dreamy sound Julee Cruise and Badalamenti have.
https://youtu.be/hBzjxg960s8?list=PLxKHVMqMZqUSwMITNUyhdzdHL79nwBFdP
It's hard to find similar to Julee Cruise though.
Every song on this album gives me that feeling
Maybe L$D by ASAP Rocky? It gives me the feeling your describing.
>>66282881
Yeah I still need to listen to that
>>66282931
This is good but it's not quite doing it for me. Vocals are a main part of what gives it that feeling so instrumental stuff doesn't work as well.
>>66282944
I need to give the rest of Julee Cruise's music another listen. Never knew Slapp Happy had stuff like this. This is definitely close.
>>66282945
Ah yes this is great I'm gonna add it to the list.
>>66283045
Aw man I totally forgot about this album this is perfect you're right.
>>66283073
You're totally right I forgot about that track as well.
Here you go my dude
Try this, the second half especially. It's kind of ambient-ish but it's not far from accessible.

The ultimate

>>66283077
There's a couple other Slapp Happy songs like that but I'm blanking on the names, haven't listened to them in awhile. Here's some other stuff

Almost every song of Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill, I guess
>>66283226
especially Heavy Water
>>66283210
Ah yes I meant to add some Bowery Electric
>>66283158
:^)
>>66283181
This sounds cool as shit. It may not fit the style I'm going for but I'm gonna listen to it regardless.
>>66283222
This first track is sweet thank you.
>>66283239
>>66283226
Yeah this is pretty close to what I'm looking for thanks.
>>66283239
Yes, Invisible and A Cover Over also would do the job.
>>66282859
Will you post the mix cd around here, OP? I would like to listen this
>>66283328
Yeah I can post the mix here! It might take me a while to complete though but I'll start working on it.

try the second side of Eno's Apollo, especially the song Weightless
OP you are literally just describing dream pop.
Pretty much all of dream pop.
>>66282881
This album is probably my AOTY, my fav tracks are Into the Night, Falling and Blue Frank: Pink Room
>>66283689
Not OP, but I liked your suggestions, a lot of good stuff I didn't know
>>66283533
Aw these are great, especially Andy Stott, Chelsea Wolfe and Tasseomancy.
>>66283662
I think Bjork has a track or two that will work, but perhaps not that one.
>>66283689
Almost all of these work, thanks!
>>66283807
I know that's what it sounds like, but I've listened to a lot of dream pop and only a few tracks really give me that feeling. It's a specific type of dream pop I'm looking for it's hard to describe.
>>66283807
Fitting name it sounds pretty close to what I'm looking for.
>>66282859
This is a great thread. I don't have much to recommend since it's all been posted, but if you haven't, listen to Julia Holter's earlier stuff. It's even more similar to what you're looking for.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EczyTD514KA
The ending of this in particular
>>66282859
I did this. It might make you feel like that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDl7woCdh0k
Also Pygmalion, but I think this is closer to what you're describing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFUzvbkEvRk
Sleep Party People- I'm Not Human At All
this track is probably exactly what you're looking for
Flood 2 by Boris
dream pop faggots
This thread is SoOoOoOO kawaii :3c
>>66285864
Hell yes it is. Thank you
>>66284617
Been meaning to listen to her older stuff this is nice
>>66285960
>>66286066
Delete this
>>66286101
The first two albums from SPP you will most likely like. 3rd one loses a lot of those aspects that you enjoy
>>66286101
>delete this
But you're literally looking for the genre of dream pop
it's all based around this stupid gimmick
OP LISTEN TO THIS!!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t989-ukRYTY
The Olivia Tremor Control - I Have Been Floated
