Bunch of kiddies who pretend they listen to classical music

Nigga I music appreciation too fight me
Chopin had superior counterpoint.

Both are inferior to Brahms and Mahler
I mean Chopin only really wrote for 1 instrument, and only really wrote homophonic tunes with arpeggio accompaniment. I wouldn't classify him as a "great" composer. He's a pretty good composer for piano, but never really went any further than that.

I don't know how much of a classical fan I would have to be to meet your qualifications, but I am trying to get into it. And whereas Chopin always manages to get a "well that was really nice" response out of me, Liszt is appealing more to the rock fan deep down, which I think is the real key to my heart. And it's not like Liszt couldn't write nice stuff too, if he wanted.

Fuck off poly/Gould

I have yet to hear something by Brahms that I think is really really great. Why is he considered one of the best, can you give recs, and please don't give a condescending answer, I'm only trying to learn.

Listen to Symphony No. 1 while reading the score or a piano reduction and look for motivic manipulation.
Just on this first page, you can see several aspects that make up the first theme of the allegro
>rising chromatic line
>descending chromatic line
>three 16th note fall (inverted in the intro)
>arpeggio in the form of a leap up a 6th then a 3rd
The answer is ALWAYS Satie

Chopin = fag
liszt = based mofo
>Chopin
Skinny faggot with low test levels
>Liszt

Liszt would wipe the fucking floor with Chopin. One suplex, one elbow drop and it's over.

The answer is never Satie unless you are making a poignant documentary.

kek
Liszt. Better pianist, more daring composer and the ladies' favorite.
Chopin fucked a woman named George, who looked and behaved just like her name.
