Why isn't this (or practically any other soul) /mu/core?

I see it sometimes on here. One of my favorite albums

Because it's bad.
Cause /mu/ is filled with a bunch of soulless white males characterized by crassitude.

Because for some reason we decided people should get into music by first listening to pop/indie rock albums.
Shouldn't /mu/core be more expansive than that? I mean, even going beyond /mu/core, many great genres are just grouped into a pile called "Classics"
WTF
This is /mu/core

It's in the "Essentials" but it's not /mu/core
bc slightly psychedelic indie pop rock is le only good music!!!!

yeah i honestly don't get why this board ignores soul/r&b so much... it's clearly not cause it's a "black" genre since so many people here suck hip-hop's dick. soul music is comfy as fuck
if you like niggers listen to candi staton im just a prisoner. amazing album.
This is probably the closest a soul album comes to being /mu/core but the genre just isn't popular enough on the board.
The general always boils down to a few essential charts, a tiny bit of discussion and then 1 guy posts a dozen or more obscure singles as the thread slowly dies.
I was under the impression that this was /mu/core/. I've seen it recommended enough.
