Do lyrics matter?
I wouldn't know because I never pay attention to them

of course
Depends on the music
Genres like folk are rooted in storytelling

I feel it does to a smaller extent.
Good music can justify shitty lyrics, but good lyrics can't justify shitty music.

>hundreds of years of classical tradition
>sparse lyrics
>greatest, and most complex compositions known to man
>ability to evangelize non believers in earshot
>do lyrics matter
what the fuck do you think?

highly disagree see Bobby Dylan
Only if you can understand them
it's distracting when they're bad and it's a negative for the song, and i enjoy it when the lyrics are good obviously. if the lyrics are just okay but fit with the tone of the song or are just there for creating a tone/atmosphere i'm cool with that too. i don't really care about them that much.
might as well post some oc here
>It's rock music, not rock literature.

Vocal delivery + enunciation > lyrics.

in lyrical genres, yes.
ex: hip-hop

Some times its hard to notice what someone is singing. but when i do notice and the lyrics are bad, even if the music is good, i get turned off immediately.
Do lyrics matter to you?
