I'm not even joking. This drunk redneck that lives near me plays them when he's working on his truck.
>>
personally, a ton of jazz. in general, a lot of bro country and southern rock.
>>
Jason Aldean

Jokes aside, yeah mostly country pop and trap shit, or ect. alternative trash if they listen to everything except rap and country.
>>
I live in the south.

A lot of southern rock (Lynyrd Skynryd, Molly Hatchet, Drive By Truckers) a lot of the younger people listen to shit pop country, and older people/people with better taste listen to Hank Sr, David Allan Coe, Willie Nelson, Merle, Waylon, Johnny Paycheck, all that stuff.

Reba McEntire

animal collective, the avalanches, the beatles, kendrick lamar

Their first album is 10/10 southern rock. Allman Brothers Band is probably popular as well, with the older crowd.

Come on, desert people have no place to talk. This is the juggalo heartland. Every once in a while I still see a kid with eyeliner, scene kid hair and MCR gear. The south may be rednecks, but the desert doesn't have a fucking culture.
t. Colorado

Depends where you are really.

Any person who went to public school listens to country bro down music and rap. These are your redneck romeos, with shitty jacked up trucks and black rims.

Every other decent human being down here listens to pretty much anything. We're not all barefoot hicks, trapping squirrels in the woods you know...

plebeian shit plus pop country
our festivals are often watered down by local bluegrass and country artists who, dont get me wrong, are talented, but dont write genuinely good music. All millennials love at least some trap. All the scene kids started liking djent and/or entry level indie folk. Southerners like to listen to music, but not good music.

if you're criticizing a southerner then there are about a thousand other, better things to criticize him about than music taste. Southerners are like teenage girls in that anything artistic other than their extremely narrow view of expression in the arts is considered "weird" and therefore bad. These people are quick to condone the "inappropriate" music of others but are polite about it.

>asking a bunch of hicks and black about their opinions on art
they all worship Flockaveli as the album and voice the black justice movement has needed for eons

In Texas specifically there's a terrible, terrible country song called "She's Like Texas" that is played incessantly in bars that the faux-country sorority girls go nuts for.
>>
Georgia here
I mean, most people listen to what ever top 40 hits are popular. I think its like that anywhere. The people who want to hear good music will seek it out.

What the hell do you mean the southwest doesn't have a culture. Las Vegas is super interesting and the people here definitely have their own cultural identity. I'm sure other places in the southwest are similar.

t. Nevadan
>>
>>66234753
Las Vegas' identity is specifically adopting other identities in order to attract tourists. There's probably a way better example than Vegas.
>>
>>66234776
t. someone who's never been to vegas or outside the tourist spots

Almost 3 million people live here anon, we don't all live and work in a half-mile strip of hotels.

I live in a holler in Kentucky. Right now my favorite bands are Dead Soldiers, Murder Murder, The Pine Box Boys, and Hank Williams Jr.

Gimme a minute and I'll share my favorite Pine Box Boys album.

People in the cities and bigger towns here mostly listen to pop country and whatnot, but here in the holler it's all bluegrass and older sounding stuff.

I live in a medium sized southern city. I'd say rap is most popular. I remember kids in middle school listening to emo and shit but it was never as popular. People in the country seem to listen to pop country and rap

Where I live, mostly pop country and top 40 rap. If they're not into that it's usually "indie" rock, or teenagers who listen to metalcore and pop-punk ("emo"/scene hasn't died out here yet)
I saw a truck the other day with a bumper sticker that said, "If it ain't country, it ain't music"

The really old people listen to gospel, bluegrass, and traditional country. The generation after that is more or less the same with more or less radio rock and contemporary Christian music. And then this generation is less gospel, bluegrass, and traditional country and listen to a lot more radio rock, pop, Bob Marley and really shitty rap and trap music.

Bluegrass is really important where I personally live, because it along with country was developed in this area and some of the first people to record country music came from here. But overexposure basically killed any liking I had of bluegrass, except for nostalgia for my grandfather. Old-time is still really good, though.

>>66224816

I live in Alabama. I wish I could say Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Allman Brothers Band or bands like them, but the truth is it's southern rap At least among the youth, white and black. Screwed and chopped remixes are popular here as well, since it sounds good on codeine which is huge here. I'd say an epidemic even.
>>
>>66224567
Both types of music: country and western.
>>
>>66224701
>Jason Aldean
This, not even memeing. I have friends who unironically listen to Jason Aldean.
>>
if you're curious about the actual music scenes memphis rap and skinhead punk are still somewhat popular especially live performances
>>
>>66244763
Yeah same. In the South, there are people that think going to a summer country concert is the best thing ever and those that think it's totally gay. I'm sure one of my friends said they were going to a Jason Aldean show before it became a meme on here and I didn't even know who it was, just assume a redneck core faggot...I was correct.
