Not him, but I'm 27 and only found out about Alizée when I was 18 or 20 because the douchebag who introduced me to 4chan wanted to show me a pop star he thought was "hot". Hip-hop is very much based around the lyrics, that is to say, that critics will praise "flow", or "wordplay", rather than things that I personally tend to appreciate in music such as dynamics, energy, honesty, and clever composition. That's not to say it's completely devoid of all artistic merit, after all, I've heard some compare it to poetry, which is an apt comparison(most of the time). But I'm into music. Not poetry.
