What is /mu/'s opinion on Old school Goa Trance? Not Psytrance. Just Curious.
Never really listened to it, I used to have a goa Dan EFX mix that was good.
I like it I guess
I don't really know the difference between Goa and psy
I know that Goa is more 'organic' and psy is more untz untz
But idk if that makes any sense

Makes sense friend. There is alot of crossover between the two but pre 1998-ish there was no Psytrance really.
A general way of looking at it might be: Goa is alot more focused on a carrying melody and lead that evolves over the course of the track whereas Psytrance is alot more focused on 'drops' and buildups to a big bassline.

Very enjoyable, if a bit dated now.

>Universo Paralello
yo my sister went to this thing
it seems neat
I'm rarely on the mood for this but I have been listening to a bunch of shpongle recently
I prefer calmer stuff
''psychill'', you know
not a real therm but it works

Universo Paralello i used as an example because it is a Psytrance centred festival generally playing a pretty commercial variety of psy, so i could highlight the difference between that and oldschool Goa, which is a very different kettle of fish to what you might hear at something like universo paralello.

Thanks for contributing.
Alot of goa definitely does sound outdated IMO
Another 'IMO' though:- Some original oldschool melodies are timeless and havn't yet been contended with.

I have that album downloaded but I never checked it
I usually get tired quickly of this punchy stuff so listening to full albums of this is kind of a chore sometimes
But yeah that's a nice track
I like these guys:

You may find this a bit boring tho, but it hits the nail on the kind of trance I dig

Yes, that's the good stuff.
Dude that lived next to me used to be real into goa and spinning fire. Sold good acid so I'd hear a little music and a lot of him hyping it. Never did check it out tho.
