>picking your bass
Why do people do this???
to make a different sound
>>66052883
If you have to ask why people do this, you don't understand how playing bass works
>>66052883
It gives a more consistent sound. Fingers/thumb have lots of variables that can effect the sound.

i think those """"""different"""""" sounds are stupid >:^(
Use your fingers you dolts
>he doesnt run his bass through 2 distortion pedals and play with aluminum picks to make space noises
>>66052951
interesting
>>66052883
I prefer a picked bass. I like the thump sound it makes rather than the soft hum of a plucked bass. Paul McCartney's rickenbacker sound is the best bass sound you can achieve.

It just depends on the sound you're going for, anon. I can pick faster than I can finger pick and it's easier on my hands, but other songs I can finger pick more effectively than I can pick.
It's rock music, OP, you wouldn't understand.

hey cool man, how was prom?
>>66054036
>going to prom
>skipping a double xp weekend and shorter lines to get doritos and dew
>>66052984
You can do that?!
Playing at tremolo-picking speeds with your fingers is hard

I can also distill my piss and use the crystals/flakes for extra ramen seasoning.
people who play picked are just not skilled enough to play plucked :^)
been playing for 13 years and I'll never understand this meme. Most great rock bassists have used a pick at least part-time. Do internet warriors just think fingers must be inherently superior because it looks "classier"?
a lot of them are the kind of nerds who listen to awful technical/prog metal bands featuring fretless players or who think Steve Harris is the greatest bass player of all time
