People always say shit like The Decemberists and The Microphones but the lyrics arent similar at all, really bothers me. But Gashcat is pretty much a defunct NMH rip off, lyrics and all.

I thought I'd like them but honestly it's so blatantly copy-pasted ITAOTS it's just not enjoyable.

OP, your best bet is The Mountain Goats, they've got a very minimalist, lo-fi but very aggressive sound and wacky prosaic lyrics. Listen to 'Going to Georgia' or 'The Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton'.
