Eh, both 4/4 genres of dance music done through electronic loops. Just cuz one uses funky soul feel and the other sounds more...technological and cold don't mean they are that different.

Metal is shit but I still know how its different from other rock subgenres.

Hip hop is also shit but I know how thats different from other electronic subgenres too.

Preference is no excuse for ignorance.

Rock has been 2 guitarists a drummer and normally a singer for 60 years but it has more retarded subgenre labels than anything.

Psych Rock did long drawn out stuff
Hard Rock did a more visceral approach to music
Prog Rock is very different having like a variety of different comp tricks making it like classical music
Noise Rock is Indian classical music but with guitars instead of harmonium
Krautrock is like something between those
Post-Rock is very much into the whole drone stuff of psych and noise rock with an approach to builds minimalist classical inspired

Comparatively, general electronic dance music is built on the same style of rhythm and foundation while all those rock genres have their own approach. A
